Does anyone know of a digital scale that's accurate? Mine was accurate at first (over a year ago) but now it's beginning to give me wrong #'s (for instance a nickel will come up as 3g/7g when it's supposed to be 5g)

I need to weigh from .1g/.2g-150g at least... if anyone has had a good experience with one, let me know, Thanks :)

I have an AWS one that ways up to 600g withing 1/10thg accuracy. Had it for two years and it works great. Only problem is I don't have the box ATM so I can't give you the model number. But if you search that description I'm sure you'll find it eventually. Mine is purple! :)

Any scale by Tanita is great.  I use this for weighing out small quantities of ingredients.  http://www.tanita.com/en/1579d-multi/

Also Escali makes some great scales.

Get a scale that can be calibrated. Any scale with a load cell will lose accuracy over time and will need to be calibrated. Get the appropriate calibration weight and follow the calibration procedure for the scale. Make sure the scale is level. Sartorius, Mettler, A&D, and others make great scales.

Me also a digital scale user and very satisfied by it's working. I purchase this specific digital scale from elite scale for my kitchen 2 months ago. I think you should try these scales and the price of these are also affordable.

I had narrowed my search for a good scale a while ago, then decided I was too poor and now forget which was my favorite.  I planned on using a stack of nickels to calibrate it.

UPDATE:

This one I believe:500g X 0.01g Digital Scale 0.01 Gram Precision Scale for Jewelry Coins Reload will go from 1/100th of a gram to over a pound, and can also do carats, troy oz, and grains for reloading.  I only wish I had bought some Amazon gift cards before the price of BTC fell...

I got a scale at wal-mart for 17 bucks. Before you use it it can be set to 0, this way it will always be accurate.

I get a 5g or 200g weight to make sure it's accurate or see how off it is.

it's usually .03 or .02 either higher or lower.

Re: Need a good digital scale. 2014/02/08 18:47:06 (permalink)
This would probably need it's own thread, but I highly recommend that everyone have a scale in their kitchen for monitoring portions.  It sounds lame to some, I get it; but once you actually see what you eat, and log what you eat, you begin to understand yourself in ways you've never understood before.  How can one master his surroundings, if one cannot even master oneself?  I'd say it would be the first step toward personal growth and enlightenment.

It's like learning a new language, human or otherwise.  At first it might seem daunting, but then you start to see patterns, and memorize the contents of the food you regularly eat.  When you pick up that can of Mountain Dew and see its nutrition label, realizing that the calories contained nearly equals what you had for lunch the day before, your eyes begin to open.  I'm not saying don't drink soda, because soda is the devil, Hell, I buy soda by the case...what I'm saying is, if you're stingy like me, you want as much bang for your buck, and as much food for the calories, so if it comes down to choosing between 2 cans of soda, or a king sized chicken salad [I loves me some crisp, cool, salad(grew up in desert, no fresh produce, much sad, such heat, wow.)] I gotta go for the salad.

TL;DR: Buy a scale.

So I guess the scale in my kitchen is in my head and doesn't exists.
Im sure there are better scales but its for food not drugs...

So when you turn the unit on it will calibrate itself to 0.

(now the unit thinks -8.0 was 0 b/c I turned it on with weight on it.)

So you turn the uniton with nothing on it or you can clear it manually.

Unit has a few different options for weight too. It does  ounce 0.0, pounds 0.00, kg 0.000, and grams 0.0.

Not saying this is the best scales in the world but if you're on a budget and just need something reliable in the kitchen here you go. I use mine to make burger patties.

To weigh in .00 g is always a tough task. I have bought  10000g/0.1g digital  balance scale w/10 weighing units from online scale shop. I am pretty happy with its working as it gives me the more accurate measurements.

I have a Starfrit kitchen scale, just google it, I forget how to link in these forums, very accurate, not cheap, but still affordable, maybe $25, good to 11 kilos. I find it very usefull for busting up mega packs of ground beef and pork, takes the guess work out when packaging it up for burgers on the BBQ

Links, must learn how to do links again... http://www.sears.ca/produ...znTMF:20140412082538:s

Got some stuff in a plastic box that's makes my screen turn on when I push the button on the front, cool.

Thate is not calibration. It is auto taring or zeroing at start up. That has nothing to do with calibration. If you want to weigh peas you put empty container on scale then turn it on, it auto tares the weight of the container to zero.

i dont really have any thing to add but i bought a digital scale 0.1g-150g from a corner convenience store for like $40, at least 5 years ago. been weighing ounces and grams, that little scale probably has 1000lbs of experience by now. i have a few little weights (3.5g, 100g) lying around and that scale is still dead on everytime, even with dead battery (roll them in my palm technique). not really helpful but i suppose when you got 1g-1kg scale, calibration will probably be needed.
