I have a brand new X58 Classified (E760) MB. I installed everything last nite with no problems until I went to setup my raid array. I have 2 x 500g and 2 x 1tb drives. They are all connected to the black sata ports on the MB, including the DVD drive. Now I know from reading on the forums that you have to turn RAID on in the BIOS which I have done. Now once I have done that and I "save and quit", the computer restarts, and goes to a" black screen with a flashing line". Ive tried to restart the computer and boot back into the BIOS but it doesn't let me, it just goes right back to that black screen with the blinking line. The post code is 86, which according to the manual just means "reserved". I also know that your supposed to be able to boot into the RAID setup by hitting "ctrl-I", but that doesn't do anything either. I have to reseet cmos in order to get back into my BIOS again. Is there something I'm missing here? Another option I should be enabling inside my BIOS? Any help would be appreciated!

Reset your CMOS and try again... Somekinda bios error happend when you set your SATA mode to Raid. BTW does it happen to go f3-f6-86? of so that could be ram or imc related.

IMC is the integrated memory controller (or something like that). It sounds like your BIOS data area may have been corrupt when you began your build. Did you press the BIOS reset button before beginning? Anyway, regardless, you should remove the CMOS battery for ten minutes (with power completely disconnected, or PS switch off). Then turn on PS switch and press the CMOS reset button and hold for five seconds. Boot into BIOS and redo your settings. Oh, and another thing, if you already installed Windows you either need to install the RAID drivers before you define your RAID array, or re-install Windows.

About RAID drivers/managers: Look at burning_kittins post here: Re:RAID Issues - Post #12 And I have heard that when you download one of these packages, they include RAID drivers. It is not necessary with a fresh install of Win7, provided you install IMSM from the disc that came with the mobo. And of course you can use that disc to install IMSM instead of downloading.

This is not normal behavior. I have two raid arrays on my system and there are no issues. You could also try to flash your BIOS if none of the other suggestions work. It is acting like there is some form of corruption around the RAID settings. When you set your drives to RAID in bios it does not make the array anyway. You have to post again and the hit crtl-I just like you said to set up your array(s). Your board should still post without having the array set up and the fact that it goes to the black screen with the line is not normal.

As another last-ditch alternative, try setting your ICH Vcore to 1.1V. I doubt it will help you, but it's a quick and easy thing to try, and it won't hurt. * * * EDIT 3/8 * * *: ICH 1.15V

Cool, I'll try all that Halloween and kmconstabe, see what happens when I get home. I kinda figured this wasn't right. This isnt the 1st build I've had and I've never had an issue like this in the past where I couldn't get into my BIOS even if something was wrong. I appreciate everyones response and will fill you all in when I get home later tonite and try it all out.

OK, So I fixed the problem!! I did what you said Halloween: - Turned off the PC - Turned off the PSU (and unplugged it for good measure) - Took out the Battery on the MB - Held down the CMOS "Reset" Button for 5 seconds - Put the Battery back in after 10mins - Plugged the PSU back in and turned it back on - Turned the PC on and booted into BIOS - Went into settings and turned SATA from IDE to RAID - F10 to save settings and Exit, PC reboots on its own.... - and............WaaLaa!! It brings up the RAID screen for the Intel RAID. - CTRL-I to enter RAID settings Again, Thanks everyone for all there help. Hopefully no else has the same problem but if they do there's now a reference for it.
