Lost it how?  Did the array crash, or disappear?  Is it still enabled in BIOS?

I have 2 1TB WD drives in RAID 1, and I've never had any issues with it.  Did you install the intel matrix storage manager?

I'd have to say it sounds like the SSD's you are using aren't working well with the ICH10R RAID controller. I've been running three WD Caviar Black 640GB in RAID 0 for several months without a single issue. I'm using the latest Intel SATA AHCI/RAID drivers.

Perhaps someone can help you with your ssd raid issues. I have 3 1 TB seagate 7200's in a raid 0 and have not had any issues. Originally had the raid on the Jmicron controller until I found it was slower than the INTEL raid.

Don't know if you want to use the slower Jmicron ports for your raid (the red ports 8 and 9) also sata ports 6 and 7. Seems like  a waste
to have those fast drives and use a slower controller.  You could google Jmicron,  that is where I found the drivers. Would suggest you wait though until someone could give you a hand with your problem....

Perhaps if you changed the title of your post to include SSD RAID PROBLEM you might get more help from those with SSD RAIDS...

I think his problem is with the 1TB WD drives in raid, not the SSD.  Still, I have an SSD and two 1TB WD drives connected to the controller, with the WD's in RAID and the SSD free-floating; still no problems.  Maybe take a picture of your RAID configuration or such like that?

Re:lost my music again in raid 2010/02/23 20:07:16 (permalink) ☄ Helpful
I've had this happen to me three times. I have figured out that you need to raise your ICH to at least 1.1V, I raised mine to 1.15V, and was able to fully recover all the RAID data - But I have RAID 10, it has redundant data. When I raised the V, I went into Intel Matrix and marked the bad drive as "normal", and it rebuilt itself. You have RAID 1 so yours might recover too, you have data redundancy.

First you indicate you had wd 1tb, then you say ocz ssd. I don't understand, but it don't matter.

Also, recommended plugs for RAID is the black ones, in particular connect the RAID drives to the lowest number SATAs. Ppls have said you get faster RAID that way. No other driver is needed for Win7 on the black (Intel) plugs, I don't know about the red ones, and I don't know about other OSes. But to recover your data keep them plugged in to the same plugs they were before, if you change them you may not recover your data. Always back up your data before any changes like this.

How new are your  WD drives? Word is late in 2009 WD changed firmware on their desktop drives to where they don't work in a raid array. Need to buy the RE version drives for raid apparently... bunch of folks not to happy cause WD product descriptions don't seem to mention this. I just ordered 2 WD caviar black 1T drives that I may return when they arrive.

I'm going to say that if you're a DJ you should store that important music on an external drive.  Something that isnt under the influence of your main rig.  I do a lot of overclocking and toying ect ect I have a multi terabyte array on my media pc "bone stock" that keeps the important stuff... like 1.4TB of movies lol ;)

one of my old SSDs would always go out if my overclock bSOD.  It made it a very long and hard process to get stable.  Not sure why it would happen.  Ended up putting it in another machine and raided two others these ones are fine and have never lost any data. The other machine is running strong and hsasn't lost data either.

When I raised the V, I went into Intel Matrix and marked the bad drive as "normal", and it rebuilt itself.

I'm having this problem also, I just built my first machine.
E760 running RAID1 on the ICH10 ports and have the IMSM.
I know how to get in the bios and up the ICH V but how does one get into the IMSM and mark the drive "normal" ?
When I go to IMSM It just gives me four options
1 create an array
2 delete an array
3 change array back to IDE
4 exit

I'm new to this but a quick learner

uplandgunner, what you describe is NOT IMSM. It is the ROM BIOS for Intel ICH10R RAID - <ctl-I>.
IMSM should be installed in Windows, and you get there by opening the system tray (the little up arrow triangle in the lower right corner, on your task bar) and R-click on the IMSM icon and choose "Intel Matrix Storage Manager." Alternately, you can choose 'start menu' -> 'all programs' -> 'Intel' -> 'Intel Matrix Storage Manager' -> 'Intel Matrix Storage Manager.'

TLER is nothing new, and use of RE or not has been discussed ever since there was trouble when the 500GB RE came out in '06 and there were some issues with the firmware back then.

But now people want to use desktop and green (non-RE Greee btw) in RAID, too.

Glad voltage got them working. I'm also paranoid enough to have backup drives, backup systems even, and hope to buy some more of the WD VelociRaptors.

Glad voltage got them working.

I can now say without a doubt (while using IMSM) that the ICH voltage increase did not fix the RAID array dropouts of WD black drives purchased in Nov '09 thru the first week in Jan '10. However, the frequency of the dropouts may have decreased a bit with the voltage tweak.

I had a drop out last night with the array again after upping the ICH to 1.1 also.
I just ordered two WD RE3 1 TB HDD's with TLER. I'm hoping this will do the trick.
I'll just use the 2-1tb WD black HDD's in my Corsair 800 hot swap bays for storage
