Hi,

When could be expect 780 Classified version with the ACX cooler to be released?
And if it gets released in your shops first, when can we expect it to land in the european retailers?
Thanks in advance!

How long did it take you guys to bring out the FTW and Classy 680s?  Just wondering.  Because this sounds like a super fast turn around time.

Also does this mean the 780 Classified will have a EVBot port for overvolting?  Or did Nvidia give you the hammer before you even started to plan one?

When can we expect 6gb versions of the 780? I was surprised to see the Classified listed with the 3gb as the reference model has.

Specs are stated here for FTW and Classified.

as you see they are listed with 3gb of memory. These are what could be out in a week to a month. Maybe the 6gb will be released in a similar time frame but there are not listed but the post does not answer state that, which is why I have posed the question.

They have no plans for a 6GB GTX 780 at this time.

Probably has to do with Nvidia's Hammer and the the Titan.

Ok, it was my hypothesis that they may not do 6gb 780s to keep distance between it and the Titan.

This would be disappointing to me because Nvidia in the passed few generations has always made the stock just a little low on memory to last a proper length of time. 480 and 580 should have been 2gb but were 1.5gb. 680 should have been 3 or 4gb but was 2gb. This left the buyers with the option to go a little light on the memory or wait and pay extra for a little more memory than necessary by getting a card with double the standard memory. At this moment in time I feel 4gb or more is the appropriate amount to buy but the 780 of course has only 3gb. If there will not be a 6gb 780 it is very diffecult to pull the trigger an buy one. Especially if one is using a 4gb 680.

Its marketing and keeping things in line.

The GTX 780 atm has no 6GB option in sight and looks like the reason why to keep it that way is so that the Titan and 780 can coexist.

You want 6GB VRAM for higher resolution gameplay?  Get a Titan.

Only running single monitor and looking for the best single GPU solution out ATM?  Get a GTX 780.

Yes I am fully versed. 256bit with 1gb is proportional to 384 with 1.5. AMD doubles the mem size to 2gb to have more mem than nvidia but nvidia still has the higher bandwidth. It would be nice to see 512bit with 2gb :).

I run three 1080p 3dvision 2 montiors in surround so yea, high resolution. I am currently using two 2gb 680s.  It's tough to buy a Titan as it is such a bad value at $1k and is not an upgrade over my sli unless I buy two, which would be a doubly bad value. Two 780's would be a good value but the 3gb would be the same mistake I made with the 2gb 680s -- running into a ram wall sooner than I would like. I was too impatient to wait for the 4gb 680s and that mistake is why I am in this predicament. So I was simply hoping they would have 6gb versions of the 780 to bail me out :P.

Do you have an opinion for what you would do in my position?

I was in your position and I dumped the two GTX 680 Classifieds for two Titan, now and I have already dumped my Titan's into the back up rig and going to order up three more for the main rig.  That's what I did

At this current situation no one has plans for a 6GB GTX 780, so what you can do is just wait it out till they do announce one or not.

Thanks.  Seems you have more money to use for play than me. I'm trying to justify 2 Titans by telling myself the will hold their value better. They will but who knows how much better.

They won't.

You could just get another 680 and go Tri SLI as that will be your best price/performance option.

Then you can hold out for hope that a 6GB model of the 780 will come and if they do sell off the 680s and use that cash to purchase two 6GB 780s.
Also by waiting you'll get your option of Gigabyte Wind Force super OC, MSi Lightning, EVGA Classified/FTW etc etc.

I think in one way they will hold their value better and a way they will not. The resale may end up being worth the same % values of original retail price but would have been better if they did not start overpriced, but nonetheless they are 1k instead of 900 or 850. I think they will hold value in being easy to sell. Tri-SLI does not really help my vram bottleneck because vram is not shared in sli. Each card only access it's own vram and thus rendering data, such as texture and geometry information, is duplicated across both cards.

I'll give into to something as I always do. I'll spill out for two titans or get two 780's and see what happens next gen. Maybe in a year the 780 to 880 will be smoother for me.

Here is my opinion:  First off, I have a dog in this race.  If I were you, I would sell your 2 gb 680s.  I would then buy two used 680 4Gbs. This is where my dog comes in.  I am thinking about getting two 780s but I am going to wait a bit and see what they come out with and maybe get a pair of Classys.  I have two 680 4Gbs that I would then sell.  If and when they ever come out with a 4-6gb 780s, you could then sell the 4 Gb 680s with little or no loss.  My 680s have been rock solid and never overclocked.

Regardless whether you buy mine or not, I think it is a sound plan in your situation.

Good luck

That is another possible option.

I took a closer look at a few games to see what bottlenecks are most frequent (excluding bottlenecks when I can play the game at over 60fps all setting maxed). The most frequent bottleneck is vram bandwidth, 2nd is the amount of vram, third is gpu processing power. While switching to two 4gb 680s would be a fairly money effecient way to gain more vram, it would not solve the more frequent vram bandwidth problem nor would waiting to see what other versions of the 780 come out as they will not improve vram bandwidth. Metro Last Light is the toughest on the system and it is vram bandwidth limited and flirts with the top of my vram capacity.

Given this, I now feel the most best option would be to purchase two 780s. They are not too expensive, do as much as possible to solve the primary bottleneck, do a little to solve the secondary bottleneck, and do a good amount to solve the 3rd. The Titan does more for the 2nd and 3rd bottlenecks but is not worth another $350(to me) since it has no effect on the primary. Two 680 4gbs would only go towards solving the 2nd bottleneck and money would be lost in buying and selling them.

I would also like to know everything.

And in addition to everything, any news of 3rd party waterblocks available for the 780 classy?

This may be off topic and I doubt it would fit but wouldn't hurt to ask. Will the gtx 780 classified fit in the up coming EVGA mini box?

I'm digging that little chassis.
