I have a build from 09 using an X58 SLI and just noticed a few updates for this board.

I downloaded the .bin file so I can use my flash drive for the BIOS update, but in my downloads the file is showing up as a "VLC media file (.bin)". I am guessing that is the program I have selected to open that type of file, but I just wanted to ask someone before I messed with this type of update. Should it show up like that? Do I need to do anything before/after the update?
For the other updates, do i just download and install them? Anything special I need to know about when doing those?

Here are the updates I found here on the website:
9-06-2012 -- Software Utilities -- Eleet .... pretty sure I already have this one.
6-22-2012 -- Audio -- 2.70
11-27-2011 -- Chipset Driver -- 9.3.0.1019
9-02-2011 -- BIOS -- 83
8-03-2011 -- Network
A few other that deal with RAID, but I dont run my system in RAID, so I figured I wouldn't mess with those.

Thanks for the Help!

I always update the BIOS to the latest one.  Its pretty easy but proceed with caution.  Burn to a CD and select cd rom as first boot device from the bios. restart install restart, then tweek as needed.

First off, as I do myself, if everything works perfect right now, I wouldn't touch it.  If it ain't broke, don't fix it.  That and Measure twice cut once are 2 suggestions I kinda live by.  That aside, if you are planning on some upgrades, or looking at faster RAM, possibly a lot more of it, the BIOS updates would definitely be advised.
Remember, if you do update the BIOS, you will need to set all changes made previously on the BIOS again after the update, so any SATA, RAM, USB etc settings will; be back to factory default, so anything you have set now, will need to be readded, preferably BEFORE you go into windows.
