I have cought a couple times at the tiger place, 80gb intel sata ll hard drives for 40$ after rebate. They work real well. I will post them when I see then again. Also I have picked up WD Velociraptors for cheap on e-bay. I got 4 80gb for 38shipped. Then I got one for 12$ or so. They work well in an raid array.

Here is something I found that might be of some help. PSU, cases and other thing at a fairly low cost. A mix of things, Clearance Sales & B-Stock items. I sure could use a couple of those PSU, hope there not all gone when I have some extra money.

TheWolf Here is a list of referb SSD at Newegg. Thanks.. Look for just enough to run Ubuntu / folding setup. Hope to find old 64GB or maybe 32GB one for under $30ish. I understand SSD take about 10W less power..

I found a guy on ebay with a flawless reputation selling AMD Opteron 6128's for $35 a pop, w/ free shipping. This deal seems amazing, you could fill out a 4P for $140? Insane!

Yea that seems like a great deal for a starter 4P setup. I had did some looking around at prices and saw some of these. If I didn't already have 6124 I'd probably be all over this. The price I got them for can't be beat. Thanks again Macaholic! Without his help my G34 build would have never happened.

And baby makes four... now to get this one up in a month and concentrate on another G34... I have someone I need to speak with regarding CPU's in about a month or two. You know who you are. I just got itchy and can't afford the big CPU's just yet!

I figured 12 cores are better than none. 1.7ghz x 12 with a lil OC starting at 85 watts= more ppd than my 1045T at 3.6ghz I wanted a HE chip I am getting 4 chips for a lot less than one cost new. I figure the big thing is the board. The new 63 series chips will work in these boards. In two years when the wife talks to me again. I will ask her this time if I can upgrade to 128 core 1000000mhz chips. AMD 63777 series

At first blush, a G34 Supermicro boards looks really expensive. But, if you consider the cost of (4) individual single-socket CPU mainboards that can't share processing power, a G34 starts looking really good. In my case, from solely an electrical cost perspective, I could easily pay for a 4P rig in ~13mos vs running multiple OC'd single CPU rigs. So, if you are already of the mindset to run multiple single CPU socket rigs, consider a 4P as an alternative and I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.
