Re:EVGA P67 Motherboards - BIOS R22 Released 2013/03/15 20:08:15 (permalink)
Hello Jacob,

I work for an OEM and we have been having issues with some customers and the EVGA FTW p67 board both the R16 BIOS and the new R22.

The overclock setting and even the standard defaults speeds are affected when running a cpu stress test with prime95, Aida64, Linx and IntelBurn.
Is it something we are missing here or is this BIOS just not stable.

The processors range from I5 2500k to I7 2600k and its not just one or two mainboards we are looking at dozen so far with the same issue that need to be reverted back to A121 to work properly but than experience the memory timing issue not taking XMP profiles.

No stress test overclock is fine

With Stress test P95 Small FFT

I can backup what c0dmstr is saying.
I am running a p67 sli with i7-2600k
On the
A121 bios my skulls ddr3 2133 MHz have to be lowered to 1600MHz
R16 was like a corrupt bios
R22 Works for my ram, but now I can't overclock my CPU. It has throttling problems.

Yesterday was a long day figuring this out...

We have done further testing the R22 BIOS is great step forward but not for the overclocking community and our users. The P67 and Z68 boards has left us with egg on our face.

The overclock settings have been tested in variety of ways from using the Eleet software to several possible manual configurations all with the same outcome.

Different memory modules have been tested at variety of speeds and the overclock throttles down instead of maintaining.
The temperature is normal and the systems have been tested with low end overclocks to higher end with air cooled systems, sealed water units and custom liquid cooling using Koolance or EK cooling kits.

Bios A121 has been stable with the overclock but does not play nice with certain memory modules placed in XMP mode.
Windows 8 boots just fine with A121, R16, R22 and so does Win7 even though we did have a system that would not boot if EIST was turned on.

The issue with that system was the Power Supply.
Any insight would be very helpful.

Why not use the A121 bios & manually enter the ram timings and be done with it, is it necessary to us XMP?

Yes indeed that would be the simple way to bypass the issue (like we never thought of that) and move on but not for all customers. As stated this is not for my personal system this is for several customers having this issue that would like to upgrade the BIOS for a system board they paid for and do not want a simple revert back we are going to do this option.

If you have something useful to add then please do to resolve the issue.

Doesn't seem to want to work on Win 8/64. run the FPTWIN64.BAT file as admin.  Gives me the cmd prompt and I type in Y, hit return and the window goes away and the PC shuts down. Restart it and it's the same bios

@dmbatch
Dude this is an awesome trick you will learn the cmd prompt is so interesting. Start a CMD with admin level then type in CD (for change directory) C:\... the path of FPTWIN64. Then the cursor is in that folder so when you type in any file you want to run especially programs that run in a CMD window

or you know you just type in "CD C:\...\FPTWIN64.bat" the file will invoke in the command prompt & not close I use that method with scanpst.exe to check outlook files for errors "cd c:\program files (x86)\microsoft office\office12" then you type scanpst.exe select the .pst file it works when you have multiple files because you can just hit the up arrow & it saves recently used commands. You also have control over all of those options you have to find the cmd.exe on file explorer then right click it|properties and you can change the font & other options.

type /? after any root command or whatever to see a list of available uses etc. the / implies a switch & the cmd is looking for a command after switches

Hi, i'm new here! Sorry for my English is not good!
I'm currently using the P67 sli micro mobo with g550 cpu borrowed from my friend, but 2 days ago, the core i5 2400 was gone and i took the pentium g2010 ivy bridge as the replacement (R22 said it support ivy cpu).
I downloaded the R22 bios and did as the intruction (all options in bios was set to df setting, no overclocking) to update bios but it's was unsuccessful.
The FTPWIN64.BAT file didn't work in win 7, i ran it as admin, type "Y" then the panel showed up with the line "window will shutdown in less than minute" and my computer power off. After that, i turned my pc on, went to bios and it was the OLD bios not the R22.
Now i have to returned the g550 to my friend and i'm in hurry to finish my object before the deadline. Can you help me fix the R22 BIOS to work properly in win7 64 bit since i don't know how to update bios in dos enviroment.
Thanks in advance.

If I'm understanding you correctly you need to flash the to the r22 with a (sandy CPU installed) then after the bios flash you can switch out the CPU to an Ivy CPU.

Hi guys

So, I noticed a new BIOS was available for my motherboard(P67SLI) and decided to update it.
After doing so I ran into a couple of problems and I thought I would share what I found:

EIST doesn't seem to work properly with my 2500k. when the machine is idling, ELEET is still showing the CPU as running flatout, no downthrottling whatsoever.

On the first few restarts after the update, the system hanged on several occasions, no specific reason I could find. But after disabling vdroop and adding a little voltage to the vcore it seemed to become more stable. If that was the fix or not is not certain though.

EDIT:
oh another thing I found was the in the onboard settings, the labeling for LAN1 and LAN2 is wrong. LAN1 actually disables/enables the LAN2 port, and vice versa for LAN2.

Yeah Same thing happens to me with my P67 SLI, The speedstep is not working and the CPU Multiplier is not working as it should... still no answers about it.

Same problem here with P67 FTW, just updated BIOS (didn't want to because it was running neat) but then I got to my OC settings and it is not working as it should... I can't run my CPU @4.5GHz as I did before :/

You can always flash it back to your previous bios version.

Re:EVGA P67 Motherboards - BIOS R22 Released 2014/01/28 13:43:15 (permalink)
Nephross

I think the problem you are having with the speedstep not working is related to Hyper-V. Do you have Hyper-V installed? That will always keep the processor at it's full speed. I used to have that and wondered why. I uninstalled Hyper-v since i didn't need it anymore and the processor started showing the different speeds again.

We have hyper-v installed on our work laptops which run i5's and they do the same thing.

I am running Win 8 64 bit - Running the 'fptwin64' file from the folder opened up a new window which prompted me to: ''Press 'Y' to program BIOS (Capital Letters) or 'N' to Cancel, followed by Enter key." After entering 'Y' and pressing ENTER my system immediately said Windows is now shutting down and then did with out doing anything else.

After finding this very frustrating and trying this a few more times I went back to EVGA's install instructions and tried the manual install. The manual install worked for me.

Thanks for the forums.

Re:EVGA P67 Motherboards - BIOS R22 Released 2014/05/09 09:24:10 (permalink)
I got my RMA board back some time ago, and i had a lot of trouble with the bios (R22) on the board. It was flashed on chip 1 and 2. On chip 3 there was an older version which i currently use.
The problem was that the system randomly rebooted. Completely random, no heat issues, power problems or anything else. So i reverted to bios 2, which also was R22, and it had the same problems. So i switched to the last one, and it was a different BIOS, (It had no error codes @ the screen, only on LED @ Motherboard) This one worked perfectly fine. Also CPU temperatures are like 10c lower now.
So currently no big deal, but if my board would get troubles, i have to use another bios. So i would flash that one with an older version which doesn't has random reboots. But what if it would restart during a flash?

Anyway, i just wanted to point out this bug.

Please make good use of it!

Were all well aware that bios r22 is a absolute abortion, but unfortunately EVGA doesn't really care at this point cause in tech terms it's too old now to put the effort in. If it was possible, I'm sure one of us in the community would take a whack at making a new version though. Also, its probably in your best interest to flash at least one of the other bios setups with a older bootable bios, like you said, incase you do have a issue with the one your using.

Re:EVGA P67 Motherboards - BIOS R22 Released 2014/05/10 11:51:52 (permalink)
I've been having reboot issues for a long time now.  I replaced every part in my PC.  My PSU I have replaced twice.  I am kinda pissed off that I just read someone is having the same issue.  This BIOS update is very bad...I feel ripped off.  I called EVGA before and they said it could not be my MOBO..

What can I do?  I highly doubt EVGA would give me a different comparable board.

The new BIOS made my PC restart multiple times without fully booting up.
I moved the BIOS switch to the middle position and changed a couple settings appropriately and now it won't start at all.
I moved the switch to the left and its working now.

This is the last motherboard I buy from EVGA.  My last MOBO from you had issues as well.  I paid a ridiculous amount of money for this board two years ago and it's been nothing but a headache.

*It seems A121 is stable for me.  It's working flawlessly so far.
