I finally got my 8800GT folding smoothly, but then this morning I go to check EOC stats and no more credits since last night.  I check the log file and there are 3 cases where it went to upload the results and eventually got the message "server has already received unit" and deleted the results.

Checking on foldingforum.org I see other people are having the same problem.

Something to watch out for if you have GPUs running, as you may not be receiving any credit for completed work.

Edit: this seems to be reflected in the 3AM (maybe) and 6AM (definitely) team stats, which are way lower than normal.

    Thanks Punchy,

So that's the reason for the low Team-stats update.
I checked the logfiles of all my GPU's and they give the same message.

I hope Stanford can fix this, especially for folders who are close the promotion deadline and need every point.

I just checked my own logs and I am having a similar issue.  One of my GPu's cannot send in the completed work packet.  It says this like 4 times, than gets another unit to work on, finishes that one and says there is no record of previous unit.  ****? I am running my PC 24/7 and not getting the credit for it?  I hope they fix this.

got that on a 450 & 783 last night, I know they didn't upload by the number of completed WUs given after a normal upload.  And the other night like frrrrrrunkis had about 5 or 6 WUs with the no record of unit, but I think those did upload again going by the number of completed WUs given after a normal upload.

You can get credit after a "no record of unit" message, because what usually happens is the unit is going to a backup server which doesn't know about that unit, and later it gets credited.  I don't think you get credit when the message is "server has already received unit" - at least I haven't seen any yet.

I am getting the same thing:

[07:09:38] + Attempting to send results [February 14 07:09:38 UTC]
[07:09:39] - Server has already received unit.
[07:09:39] - Preparing to get new work unit...
[07:09:39] + Attempting to get work packet
[07:09:39] - Connecting to assignment server
    [07:09:39] - Successful: assigned to (171.67.108.21).
    [07:09:39] + News From Folding@Home: Welcome to Folding@Home
    [07:09:39] Loaded queue successfully.
    [07:09:40] + Closed connections

I really do hope they fix this!!

Ah, I'm not the only one!

[19:21:38] + Attempting to send results [February 14 19:21:38 UTC]
    [19:21:38] - Reading file work/wuresults_03.dat from core
[19:21:38]   (Read 168204 bytes from disk)
    [19:21:38] Connecting to http://171.67.108.21:8080/
    [19:21:39] Posted data.
    [19:21:39] Initial: 0000; - Uploaded at ~165 kB/s
    [19:21:39] - Averaged speed for that direction ~103 kB/s
[19:21:39] - Server has already received unit.
[19:21:39] + Sent 0 of 1 completed units to the server

I tried doing a few with  the "-send all" flag after this, but get the following message:
    [01:17:54] Loaded queue successfully.
[01:17:54] Attempting to return result(s) to server...
[01:17:54] Trying to send all finished work units
[01:17:54] + No unsent completed units remaining.

So the way I read this is, I processed the work unit, the server would not let me upload it, and the work has been deleted.

Checking out Stanford's forums there are many threads about this issue (like the link posted by the OP)

Hopefully there is a quick and easy fix they can implement when they go back to work in the morning.

    SMP working fine.

GPUs constant: [01:53:40] + Attempting to get work packet
[01:53:40] - Connecting to assignment server
[01:53:40] + No appropriate work server was available; will try again in a bit.
    [01:53:40] + Couldn't get work instructions.
[01:53:40] - Attempt #6  to get work failed, and no other work to do.
    Waiting before retry.

It's mainly affecting the Nvidia GPU servers I believe cause ATI's are still able to send and receive WU's as well as SMPs.

Same here. This kind of thing has happened before. Not exactly like this, but similar. We eventually got all out points. Maybe even a little more. I remember one update they played catch up and I got about 24000 points for a single update, and I wasn't even aware that I had fallen behind.
If it is happening to us it is happening to all teams. Even if we don't get the points, at least the work is getting done.

Good point Rcran, the work IS being done and thats the important part.  Sometimes I lose sight of that, especially when we are waiting for the new promo from EVGA!

Unfortunately in this case Dr. Pande isn't sure that the completed WUs will actually be uploadable or used to make scientific progress.  They are still investigating.

Ouch! That was one of the servers I was working on, had 783's and got the message "can't find record of this work" when it got back on- line.
