Total cost, ~$2.00
I used Digikey PN - WM8261-ND
any 6 pin with 2.54mm spacing will work after removing one  pin.

Results:
EVBot works great with this mod, which shows that all that's missing now is the connector itself.  * view post #12 below
Most likely a warantee voider tho

Can't be that simple, wouldn't there have to be software and other tracer links to enable use of hardware?  The whole reason we can overclock is because there are manually programmable aspects hardwired into the card.  I'd like to think EVGA didn't just remove the port, but of course adding it now voided your warranty.

Test it out, see how it works.

I doubt evga changed anything more than removing the port. If they updated the bios to not allow it then the only thing you should have to do is get the 3 bios and flash them.

OP if it works you should post a link to where you found them. Even though I'm not sure hwo many people will do this because of voiding your warranty if you actually solder it in.

I can confirm that all it took was soldering the headers on.  My evbot communicates fine.  I programmed my evbot through one of the cards and can adjust values at will.  I get the OK! when i make a change so all is well.

I used Digikey PN - WM8261-ND as that's what i had laying around.  Pull one pin and you're good.

Tommorow i'll push these things and see what i can get out of them

i thought about this, evga changed nothing except removing the evbot header. evga should just sell the connector on the side, fudge nvidia!!!

You guys just don't understand that they can't.... Evga never said you cant do it yourself though but they did say it will void your warranty. Now just with anything if the card is RMA'd without the port then your fine. Easily removable I might add if you solder it in, just unsolder it. So stop complaining lol

You just clip the back side of the pin and pull it out the front of the connector.  Then clean the points on the board and solder the connector in.  The only thing left for me to do is verify the voltage changes on the hardware level via a multimeter.  The EVBot shows successfull changes but it's not showing the voltage in precision or oc scanner.  This is my first time using an evbot so i'm still learning.  Anyone have any input on how to verify voltage via software?

EvBot voltage changes don't show up in software monitoring,
    atleast with mine it doesn't

That's right, voltage changes will be only readable via EVBot in this case.

Yes but if you solder it in it may be a little harder without a heat gun or something to heat up all 5 points at once.

I have a small desoldering pump that will suck solder out of the joints.  I once knew a girl like that

I was thinking, if you run no backplate you could probably make a pogo pin setup and just push it on when you need to change something.  Just an idea

Yeah this will work fine, nvidia / EVGA is not going to go through the trouble to completely re-spin a board just to take a connector off, they pads and traces are all still there, so if you can not find a proper connector just use wire, clip the end off of the EVBot and solder the wires together and throw some heat shrink on there and give it a day, trust me, I have done much, much sketchier reworks in my day.

Even newer Classified GTX 680 can receive this mod ? I mean, no lasercut in PCB or something like that ? Just solder the right connector and all is OK ?

So ... it's a five point soldering job
Maybe EVGA can offer a backplate now with their Classy ?

PS: How EVGA can say connector was here or was not here at the moment of the buy ?

The backplate for the 680 Classified has been available nearly since the videocard release itself, you can find it on the EVGA webstore, and if it is out of stock, you can check eBay  =)

Hi, you don't need a special BIOS to use the EVBot, the only think you need (appart from the EVBot itself) is for your Classified to have the EVBot connector.

    Thank you!

Took me about 12 minutes to do this mod on my 4 x Classifieds (That is with the soldering iron heating up) - Yes, even a child could do this (Or at least a person that read a simple soldering guide).

    Remember:

Lots of light, and if possibly a magnifying glass (Makes the job so much easier).

Good soldering iron (Not expensive, just with an adequete tip - Most soldering irons (30-50 USD) comes with a perfectly fine tip for standard soldering)

Steady hands (No-one shouting around you that dinner is ready)

You can *always* use a solder pump to undo a solder

    ground yourself!

And NO, you do not have to do it in 12 minutes - I was only able to do so as I been soldering for years and have a workbench for it. Take it slow, do one solder at a time and look it over -

DO NOT EVER SOLDER TWICE TO "TRIM" the soldering, this WILL make it messy! If you solder is "imperfect" just heat it up and use your pump to remove it - Then redo!

And remember - You are NOT supposed to heat up the solder itself, but the object you are attaching the solder too. I seen countless of ugly and loose soldering, all because the person doing it was heating up the solder itself!

My only problem now is what to do with the 196 EVBOT ports I still have - I ordered them from China, through Ebay, and they only had them in a package of 200 - Paid 25USD for them (With free shipping).

LOL, I'm just like that, but the package I ordered had "only" 150 and I used just one connector since only one of my Classified's was missing it

Or if someone don't know or he is not sure, first time to solder 500$ thing... can find some experts for soldering...
If explain what to do I suppose for someone who do that everyday and have tools it's not some hard job...
