<soapbox>I seem to recall that during the March Madness Challenge earlier this year that we were holding pretty steady as a group in the 28-30M PPD range, which is where [H] is currently holding stable... We need to begin pushing toward that number again and be able to hold it; it won't be easy as they have some incredible CPU torque in their favor, but the one thing that we have in our favor right now is more active folding bodies. In the past few days I've seen a lot of old folders returning to help keep the spot that they fought to initially create, and I've seen a lot of new folders signing up to help fight for the cause and keep it (and some are throwing down some pretty impressive numbers right out of the gate!). I know that many mention the new 6xx GPU's and the lack of FAH support for some of the slowdowns in production, and that is unfortunate, but certainly not insurmountable by any means (heck, throw the 4xx/5xx back in, whatever); I know that if we all just put our noses down and focus on production that we can eventually meet their output and at minimum hold them back until more reenforcements arrive (and from the threads I'm seeing about various folk building up new 2/4P rigs I think that it will show up on the battlefield fairly soon). Either way, the threat of becoming number two is quite real and if we don't get moving now it will hit us quick; so fire up every last toaster you have to keep [H] at bay and try to help me clean out my garage while you're at it! </soapbox> Challenge 1: I would like to see 3x days of 25M or greater PPD from our team... It sounds hard as that's ~3M more than our current average, but I know it's an attainable goal and once met I think it will be easier to push past that and go even further beyond and eventually meet [H] in production... It's foolish to dangle a small carrot and expect everyone to become 'marathon runners' overnight though, so let's start with a consistent 25M PPD as a goal and work from there. The Carr, er, Prize: I have a matching set of laptops that will be given out to two lucky randomly drawn challengers when this challenge is met: Model: Dell Latitude D620 CPU: Core2 T5500 @ 1.66Ghz. (64bit capable) RAM: 2 GB PC2-5300 RAM HDD: 60GB HDD OS: WinXP w/ Dell OEM License Vid: Intel 945 Graphics Mon: 1280x800 14.1" WXGA LCD Perip: DVD/CDRW Drive, Bluetooth, Intel 3945 ABG WiFi Note: Working Battery and Power Supply, units are in good shape (pics attached to post - It's late so I'm just attaching them and not getting fancy this time, they're from my cell so good luck viewing any detail anyways) They are good machines, although they aren't high PPD yield (~2k a day) what they provide is a machine to browse with around the house that maybe leaves your main machine to folding as even forum trolling takes CPU cycles and eats bonus PPD (or do whatever, they're yours). I fully expect that it will take a few days to beat this challenge, if I'm wrong and we hit it tomorrow then I guess I will have pleasantly underestimated us and will be more than glad to throw the next large challenge out there; in the meantime I will be coming up with other challenge ideas and tossing smaller goals and prizes out for accomplishing... Remember, the goal of this is to get our output up and keep it there to keep [H] working for it; eventually I'll run out of junk to give, but ideally by that time the pain of us all folding harder will have subsided and we'll be more 'marathon running' fit and ready. Now let's go show [H] how we took the number one spot in the first place and start putting some pressure on them; they're already flat out at full steam against us, so if we can produce similar output they'll be stuck...

It's not a goal attainable in one day, but with all of the fresh blood pouring in and the old steel returning I believe that 25M will be hit before weeks end.

well we havent hit 25m yet but i know many people are just ramping up their rigs. for some reason my cpu yesterday didnt put out as much as i would like but i had some new wu i never seen before. but im working on getting from my 20-24k to my 48-51k now. lets hope that our fellow folders are doing the same as me and ramping up their folding. i also know alot of crunchers and switching back to folding and that can take anywhere from a few hours to a few days as some of the crunching units take 2-3 days to complete.

The 1st is coming so our output will finally be back in peak season :P I'll see if I can start doing smp's again 1 a day or so, specially for the push for the anniversary date.

We should be able to do 25M today - but not exactly in the way you intended...

Its really depressing that Nvidia is neutering the 600 series cards computational power in order to differentiate their computing orientated cards. I disagree with this move since AMD's newest generation DESTROYS Nvidia in computing and the whole basis is to prevent gaming cards from being viable computing alternatives... HERP DERP just use an AMD card /sigh. EVGA has a wonderful folding community and its really disappointing to see our team get hamstrung because we chose to support the best gpu maker in the industry. I apologize if i didnt explain myself too well, i just woke up and this has been bothering me and i didnt want to get too ranty lol

I am trying to get my hands on a tesla card as I heard they are better for folding. Is this correct and are we gonna make our goal?

Wow, what a dangerous situation! I haven't been folding much recently but this gave me a great reason to buy a new 670. I hope it gets here in time to help!

We made it to 25M (just barely) yesterday - here's hoping for additional increases over the next few days!

We haven't even posted the final # for the day to EOC and we've already broke 25M! I'm picking two names now so that if they get back to me before 9a tomorrow I'll get their shipments out w/ the rest of them! Best be checking your PM's!
