Hello there,
first: sorry for my bad english.

I need these things:

1. The newest official "GTX 680 Classified" BIOS. Is there any official downloads or bios lists or anything else?
Are there changelogs? My bios (factory) on GTX 680 Classified is 80.04.28.00.80 (P2002-0000).
2. How can i mod the BIOS for my graphic card? Any tutorials? Clock tables? ... Fan Mod Tutorial to 100% FAN?
3. What are the bios differents between GTX 680 Classified & GTX 680 FTW+ ? Only differents clocks?
Why are the bios names (bios version numbers) between differents clocks and graphic cards the same?
For example the Zotac (or any other card) use the same BIOS version like any EVGA graphic card. but i think, there are some changes, like different clocks. are there more changes or only these?

I hope you can understand my english and you can help me.

Thank you very much.

Yours faithfully.

    1. EVGA will not release a BIOS for a GPU unless there is a wide spread issue that warrants one.
    2. They are out there, but since I have no need, I do not know where to look. If the card dies, and you are unable to put the original BIOS back on the card. The Warranty is VOID and you are out the money you spent.
    3. No clue, hell the BIOS can change from batch to batch on the same model card. You could have one card with one BIOS, and a completely different BIOS on the same model card.

So there is no "Newest Official BIOS", and modifying your BIOS can be risky if you do not know what you are doing. Even flashing the GPU can brick them if you are not careful. Personally, I would not bother, why do you need 100% fan speed anyways? If you really want to cool the card that much, you should have just gone liquid cooling.

Case - Phanteks Enthoo Evolv X

GPU - EVGA RTX 3080 Ti FTW3 Ultra Gaming
    PSU - Seasonic Prime TX-1000

I have found a way to modify my bios of the GTX 680 Classified, the opcode is NOT 0x0008000 !
Now the graphic card have 20-100% fan speed.

If anybody like to try it, PM me.

Classified's have three bios', so you can easily flash one and if it doesn't work, you've still got 2 others, and can flash it back. About all you can achieve is increased fan speed, voltage locked at 1.21v, and you could hard lock clocks at a certain spot so they don't downclock. As far as I know there is no bios out there that will allow voltage over ~1.35v. That requires some modification to the cards.

I have found a way to change the FAN SPEED
    on EVGA GTX 680 Classified.

Its a bios mod for the standard bios switch, but I think it should work on "OC bios" and "LN2 bios" on the same way (sorry for my bad english).

    The opcode is NOT 0x0008000.
My bios mod is tested and works fine and perfect!

It's the original factory bios version 80.04.28.00.80 (P2002-0000).

    ORIGINAL:
min. 20% fan speed - max. 55% fan speed.

    MY BIOS MOD:
min. 20% fan speed - max. 100% fan speed.

    the opcode is 0x000080C0
    original: 00 22 14 37 ....
    my mod: 00 22 14 64 ...
+ checksum fix on opcode FFFF to 2C on the end.

If it's allowed to upload the modded bios, i could upload it here.
    otherwise PM me.

    Warning!

On my first Classified that I got I used ZotacFirestorm to update the BIOS that was going around to unlock 1.21v and 100% fan and it worked great. Zero issues.

I just used the same exact program and BIOS on the LN2 position on my 2nd Classified that arrived today and now that BIOS position is corrupt. The GPU boots up with the graphics all mangled and like four colors. Win 7 still loads up but when I go back into Firestorm, it says no valid GPU found. So not sure how or if you can flash the BIOS back to the original if the BIOS program cannot detect the GPU.

So EVGA changed something physically with the card or the current BIOS didn't play nice when writing the new BIOS. I used the exact same program and BIOS file between the two cards. The BIOS update said it updated fine. Scared to try again as that would make two BIOS positions corrupt and only one left.

Sigh, so now I am stuck at 55% fan. Anyone know if there is any way to low-level override this corrupt BIOS maybe via DOS or something?

They may have made some board changes when dropping the evbot connector.

This one still has the EVBot connector, unless they made some changes to the card independent of that. Same exact BIOS update program and BIOS, not sure what could have gone wrong. The only difference is I am on a newer NVIDIA driver, but I don't see how that should effect the BIOS update.

Just be careful with those BIOS updates on recently purchased cards. I've been flashing GPU BIOS's for over 15 years and I've never seen anything like this before.

    Re:GTX 680 Classified - Differents, BIOS MODs, Downloads? 2012/10/05 12:31:56 (permalink)
Well, did some more investigation on my two Classifieds that both have EVBot but one is about 1.5 months newer than the other.

This is the GPU-Z of my original (1st) Classified stock BIOS position #1:

This is the position #1 stock BIOS of the second (newer) classified that has the corrupt BIOS in the LN2 position:

So even though the card is the same, the newer card has a different stock BIOS and caused the BIOS update corruption. So you can use the 100% fan unlock BIOS if your classified has the 80.04.28 BIOS. If you have a newer classified that has the 80.04.47 stock BIOS you will corrupt that BIOS position and this is what you get:

I am not sure if this was something intentional or not by EVGA or why they changed the BIOS from 28 to 47. Is there a 80.04.47 BIOS out there that has the 100% fan unlock? Not even sure I would try as if it failed that would lock a second BIOS position up. Any way to low-level flash these BIOS positions in DOS or something to overwrite the corrupt BIOS position?

Why do you have the bios version "80.04.47.00.80" in your GTX 680 Classified graphic card?
Is this a new bios for GTX 680 Classified?

I only know (and have on my classified graphic card) the bios version 80.04.28.00.80 !

Please upload your (not-modded!) bios and PM me for compare!

Where did you get this newer bios version / graphic card with newer bios?

If you need any bios mod, PM me.

You should be able to flash back the bios position, if you use another graphic card (or Intel HD Graphics or anything else)
and switch to corrupted bios position. Then flash back in secure mode of Windows or in normal mode, anything that works fine.

I just got this Classified from Newegg today. It still has the EVBot connector but it came stock with 80.04.47.00.80 BIOS. Apparently when I flashed it to the 80.04.28.00.80 100% fan unlock BIOS it did not like that and corrupted the BIOS position. Not sure why this card has this BIOS, nor not sure why this BIOS would corrupt another BIOS that is being written. Maybe something about backwards compatibility or possibly an EVGA anti-BIOS writing measure?

I will PM you the BIOS.

You should be able to flash it back without any problems.
The "OC" and "normal" bios switches contain the same bios.

I thought its a new bios version, because EVBot connector is removed. But you said, you have EVBot connector. Now I'm wondering.
Not sure, if I should try this new bios version on my "old" GTX680 Classified graphic card.

EVGA, please tell us the differents between these bios versions !

Can you be more specific? How can I flash the BIOS back to the original if the BIOS program cannot identify the GPU properly because of the corrupt BIOS? Are you saying start the GPU with the good BIOS and then once Windows is loaded, to then switch the BIOS position to the bad BIOS and then flash? Are you sure that will work properly?

Do you have an iGPU/APU (for example Intel HD Graphics) ?
Put your monitor cable to the graphic unit on the motherboard and switch to the corrupted bios position and boot up your computer with them. Then I think you should be able to flash back with nvflash on normal mode. Perhaps you need to remove graphic card driver before start in normale mode, if you get blue screens.

Sorry for my bad english. PM me, i will help you.
And please don't forget to send me your ORIGINAL(!) bios rom files.

The GPU is out of the machine at the moment, but once I put the GPU back in I will save the BIOS and send it to you. I will try NVFLASH in DOS to see if I can overwrite that bad BIOS and let you know.

    So why the different bios?

    What do you mean?
There are 3 different bios switches.
    LN2 for LN2 use.
    OC for overclock.
    Normal for normal use.

You can switch to OC mode and flash it. If anything goes wrong, you can use normal mode.

EVGA planned to set different bioses on each switch, but something happened that they set the same bios to "normal" and "OC" switch, not know why they have done it.

Warning: Warranty void if you mod your bios - but this should be already known.. But if you have any issue this the graphic card, just flash back before RMA it. Then it's no problem.

Yes, all will show the same BIOS version. Only the LN2 has small tweaks, Norm and OC will be the same. The version number won't change.

The thing we are trying to hunt down is why different stock BIOS versions and why going from one to the other corrupts the BIOS when the cards are identical.

Same bios version doesn't mean, that the bioses are really the same.
It's only a number - you could change this number in the bios itself

LN2 bios is different. OC and normal are the same.
Yes, there are no performance differents and you doesn't need LN2, if you not use LN2.

The thing we are trying to hunt down is why different stock BIOS versions and why going from one to the other corrupts the BIOS when the cards are identical.

Not sure if the cards are really the same.
Perhaps there are really small changes (other manufacturer of any chip or anything..?) and thats why there are different bios versions ?

Need the new bios files to compare them

Callsign, I am confused. I thought you were the guy running 5 portrait monitors and doing all sort of crazy stuff. Must be a different person. Regardless, the stock bios of your card shouldn't have anything to do with what bios you can flash it with. There's clearly some sort of other incompatibility. That's the point of flashing a bios... you're replacing the existing one with a new one, in which case whatever old one you had won't make any difference. There has to be something else going on.
