This is mainly for those who know it's aimed for you...
Those Misc IO boxes hide a key function of the forwards compatibility of Bulldozer/Piledriver to Steamrollers/Excavators platform.
AMD Bulldozer is on top...
<890FX*/<990FX/<1090FX/C32/G34 <-- Bulldozer supports but isn't intended to be on these platforms.
(*needs to support AM3+ VRM standards)
Bulldozer has 42+ lanes of PCIE on it's die (I counted 52 but I suspect the extra lanes are for the bridge not the actual connection to the slots)
No one is talking about these PCIE lanes...and I searched hard and long about these PCI-E lanes that are just randomly there.
"Boulder" and "Austin" Socket GC36 gave me the hint but seeing the links...forwards compatibility is the focus of Bulldozer...

Edit P.S.:
While on my discovery exploration I noticed differences between Thuban's 3.1 HT Links and Bulldozer's 3.1 HT Links...
Bulldozer has 20 dots
Thuban has 16 dots
BD HT 3.1 => 20 bits * 2 * 3.2 => 16 GB/s <-- PCI-E 3.0 x8
TH HT 3.1 => 16 bits * 2 * 3.2 => 12.8 GB/s <-- PCI-E 2.0 x8
Which leads me to believe Hypertransport 4.0 will be up to 40 bit bi-directional links up to 8 GHz effective
