Strangely i was looking at the same graphs a few minus before this thread popped in, lol. It is kinda depressing but not surprising, imo, considering the changes that have been lately passed on to donors. Plus summer is coming and i think it's going to get worse, we'll see.

I think the switch to the 680 slowed alot of EVGA folders down Plus these work units have been all over the place (well for me anyway) I'm working 24/7 and even loaded my bedroom pc to fold, poor thing is a single core amd 4000+ LOL churning a massive 268 ppd I'm hoping to pick up a 680 myself (EVGA stock permitting) in about 1-2 weeks from now which should improve my folding as my current 550ti will grace the bedroom and let the cpu there rest ;)

With your 980Xs, you can still receive Bigadvs if you are running a Linux distro. My 980X has been running them back-to-back without any problems getting them. I've even gotten a few 6900s and 6901s lately, but mostly get the 6903s. I know these were supposed to have gone away back in Jan/Feb, but they did not/have not and they are still available. Get some!!

Yes, we're having flame-outs as of late while [H] is on afterburners. The progress we had vs [H] in early to mid-March was the March Madness contest. Once that contest was over, [H]'s performance really kicked-in. You have to hand it to those guys too by increasing production at a time when warmer weather typically reduces it. They may have to fall off a bit as it get's hotter, but right now their "heat" is in their ability to Fold! I really do hope that something breaks free for us so that we can give them a better run for their money. Lately, they are exceeding our production while we are declining (a good recipe for an overtake indeed).

The big thing, Zild, was Stanford changing the core requirement for -bigadv from 8 cores up to 16. That alienated a lot of us from the hefty point bonus, especially those who had dedicated i7 rigs just to run -bigadv, which was a good chunk of the team. Now we're relegated to running regular -smp units, which don't produce nearly as many points as -bigadv.

I see... 16 cores? the only cpu that has 16 cores is da dang bulldozer... correct? or a dual cpu machine... Like a macpro... or a server board... That really cuts the majority of people off from the bigadv... What the heck stanford? That sure was a snotty move!!

But surely the bigadv not only affected us but team H also? This should've slowed us both down but instead EVGA stalled while H surged onward. I guess they have a goal in beating us where we have gotten complacent at the top. We should mobilize the troops and make sure they hold there distance...

Let's not forget... A few of our big hitters went to [H] the last few months. All you have to do to see who they are is look at our top 70 and see who is not producing any more (A few changed their name to save face BTW). [H] is doing a great job with servers, and we have nothing on them for that. This is why folks are leaving us and going to them, not to mention the drama lama's that always have to pick a fight with any conversation about Stanford or a contest. That forces good people that are here to just be a part of a team not want to be here. And lastly, the changes Stanford made was the last straw for quite a few folks.

I dunno...if we have lost guys in our Top 50, I don't recall hearing from them here or over at [H] on the back-end. I read their forum just about every day and haven't seen it, but maybe I've missed something. It's certainly true that HPC has helped any team that took advantage of it (us too), but I don't really think that is the power behind [H]'s advancement. If HPC is that significant, then we'll know pretty soon. I think it is the large qty of 4P systems they added, and they are still adding new Folders (some of which like Grandpa that are heavy hitters and may be temporary). When the Bigadv changes happened from PG, [H] was already pretty advanced into 4P builds. Then after that, they responded even more to that change by adding a lot more 4Ps to their team. EVGA was not positioned to respond well to that change due to our hardware structure as a team. That's not to say things can't change and I'm ever hopeful that they will too!

I lost a lot of respect for [H] when grandpa admitted that "some or all" of their MP systems are using various hacks to avoid getting 8101's, and nobody there really took a strong stand against him.

It's free to sling mud but keep things in check at least. That corehack is not about avoiding 8101, it's about receiving bigadv units with fewer than 12 cores, and you know that. AFAIK, there is no way to avoid any work units.

HPCS was not very popular with us over at [H], OCN have been the main team to gain from the beta program that they HP have been running, i think we had about 15 members top using it, Its a moot point now anyway as people are winding down there HPCS usage before the beta prgram closes on may 10th, whilst CON has dropped we haven't...... Fold one everyone, Whether you're at no.1 or we are, the race only pushes both teams harder and even more science gets done.

zildjian75 TRADERS!!! Off with theirs heads!!!! trad·er [trey-der] Show IPA noun 1. a person who trades; a merchant or businessperson. 2. a ship used in trade, especially foreign trade. 3. a member of a stock exchange trading privately and not on behalf of customers. Example Sentences Noun Trader, or effect transactions directly or indirectly for a large trader where a non-broker-dealer carries the account. Dave collects antiques, but by profession he's an iron-and-steel commodities trader. He trades the old-fashioned way, phoning orders in to a licensed trader who jumps into action at the sound of his voice. He appealed to the farmer and small trader as no one else could. One trader fainted from exhaustion, was revived and put back to work. We can compare the poker player to the stock trader. If someone is looking to sell a stock, for example, then a bank trader may be willing to buy it. No two characters seem more inconsistent than those of trader and sovereign. The desire to show that you are a match for the star trader next door, or the bank in the next town, will do. The easiest example here is if a trader's long-term positions go bad.
