For Intel processors, 0.122 x TDP = Continuous Amps at 12v [source].

I believe the reason for that is there is already a 300 series and is not based on the GF100 chip

Well.. it does not make since.. but at the same time it does.

They already released a "300" gpu... and i guess it would help avoid some confusion by branding them as 400s...

Or maybe there making up for all the lost time by calling them 400s xD

This is what I'm thinking now: There is a G100 mobile series which people largely claim are rebranded GeForce 9000M parts and G200's are the desktop counterparts.  So now there are the 'new' G300 mobile parts so it would make sense to have the desktop parts branded 400.  Hypoothetically, this could mean the G500's will be next mobile and GTX600 is next desktop high-end.  The hilarity multiplies when knowing the name of the competing generation by then will be HD6000.  Joyous confusion.

Nivida really loves to try and cunfuse there costomers... Rebranding and Naming things to make them seem way faster than they really are.

At least ATI is somewhat forward with what they sell... even though some HD5000's are slower than the higher up HD4000's

I guess the 400's and Up will be DX 11. and 300's and below DX10.

and you cant have 2 different "300s" that one has DX11 and the other DX10.

NVIDIA’s Facebook page was updated just minutes ago with some new information on the GeForce Fermi architecture. With a post that says, “Fun Fact of the Week: GeForce GTX 480 and GeForce GTX 470 will be the names of the first two GPUs shipped based on our new GF100 chip!
Exitios, moderator from the NVIDIA Forums, confirmed the post as “legit”. The GF100 architecture is NVIDIA’s newest platform aimed at the high-end market. Is expected to make an introduction in Q2 2010, and is currently in volume production, as mentioned by Jen-Hsun Huang, NVIDIA CEO at the NVIDIA Press conference at CES 2010.

Q2 2010.. I guess they have more bate.. so follow the bone aliitle more guys.. as they have turned this whole deal into a joke and just can't man up and spit it out that the card is not ready for production.

how have they rebranded a chip that hasnt been branded in the first place? even gt300 wasnt official.

who knows what 300 series is? it would be counter productive to make a dx11 card only function as a dx10.1 part.

I ment that they rebranded with the "300" i didnt say "GT" they made the "300"s when really they where rebranded 9000's

the 300s are lower power budget card. cooler running 9000's basicly. they are all dx10.1. i was saying that they labled the gf100s as 400s thay way they would not have the 300 tag under dx 10 and 11 card... so anything 400 and above should be dx 11 and 300 and below would be dx 10
