Just a heads up.

I posted in Crunching yesterday that there are issues with the latest nvidia drivers and cuda apps.  Forgot to post here as well.
It seems that when the driver puts the screen to sleep, that function also kills access to CUDA functions; which will obviously do nasty things to your GPU workunit.

current solutions are:
1. set your screen to never sleep
2. roll back to previous drivers

I don't think this is affecting everyone, I'm sure there would have been more posts about failing workunits if it were.  If you find you are failing GPU workunits consistently and have just upgraded the drivers, you've probably just discovered the reason why

Hope this helps

Same here, halts my folding after a WU is complete. So it sits at 0% while I'm at working wasting precious folding time.

If you go into your power options and set it so your monitor doesn't turn off, it will fix the issue.

I've only noticed this problem when running 295.73.

Woooh! Nice catch on that! I am running the 295.xx beta's on a 250 that fouls out constantly. Ill have to check this out and confirm that it corrects the problem.

i rolled back to the 285.62 drivers.
the 295.xx changed my power setting on the monitor only so it went to sleep.

I need my monitor to sleep so I can sleep. Haha

As of now I just rolled back to 285.62

I didn't notice an increase in performance with the 295's anyway. Just needed them to play the ME3 demo.

Confimred that just simply disabling sleep on monitors corrects unstable issue.

Will it stop folding even if I manually turn off my monitor but still disable sleep on my monitor?

If performance is any better with these drivers and if it gets me anymore PPD I'm willing to live with that minor inconvenience.

Hard to say comparison wise......I've been out of the loop folding for a bit. But the latest V7 BETA and the latest WHQL work like a champ...

Despite these inconveinences, it seems we fold on. I welcome the extra 10k PPD bump now.
Still getting 101xx's on my 2.8GHz P4 Dual, while my xeons fold away at 609x's.

If they have failed the workunit 10 times, it's probably an issue relating to your card rather than the driver.

you may need to reduce your overclock to get it to fold correctly; these new workunits run hot and seem to be very prone to errors.

Same issue today, new units would not start, rolled back to 285 drivers, works fine now. Work units would fail 5 times before F@H would sleep.

Got the 295.xx drivers and w8 working now in Tracker. I turned off the power features (not easy to find now so I pinned it to my taskbar). Also, the Windows Update included an update to the 9800 so I installed that, rebooted, and now seems to be working. All is right with the world.

Will it stop folding even if I manually turn off my monitor but still disable sleep on my monitor?

Nope, that is what I'm am doing now and have not had any problems.

This post is a lifesaver!

I'd upgraded to SLI at roughly the same time as updating to the new drivers, so was finally in a position to Fold 24/7 on a GPU with no impact to almost anything else...but kept getting these infuriating GPU job 'failures' that I couldn't figure out.

That was it - I disabled 'sleep' for the monitor (I just manually turn it off when I want it off), and I've been running for days, now, without issue.

Nice!

I think it was Kody's follow-up post that you could "turn off the monitor" along with disabling sleep that was really the key.

Just disabling 'sleep', after all, is not really much of an option if you have to leave the monitor on.  I think we all like to be able to sleep now and then!

Seriously, though, the whole thread is very helpful - I'm glad you brought it up at all, because I couldn't figure out what was going on with my own system.  It's a great community that can jump on these items and find workarounds so quickly!  Kody provided the A+B=C that was the winner for me, personally, though.

My 560 has had three UM errors so I've turned off advmethods until I can get it more stable. The 9800 is pumping out wus like a mofo. Actually, I see that it's stuck again which was happening before the w8 upgrade.

After I shut it off for a day, it seems to running fine now. Sometimes, ignoring the computer for a day seems to fix stability problems. Sometimes google browsing photos of a recycling plant also works.

I realized that I had multiple instances of fah_core 11 and 15 in Task Manager. After shutting down Tracker, I ended each. I think that's why my gpu 1 was getting stuck.

Well i should have checked this thread sooner it seems. For whatever reason its been going on with mine and i couldnt nail down what it was. And now I assume this is what has killed the fan control on a Gigabyte card I had been running along with my EVGA card. So now I have an expensive paperweight until i find another cooling solution for it which is looking pretty bleak as it is a non-standard layout on the SOC Card.
