Just wanted to raise awareness to the continued declining gap between our Team and HardOCP.  I've been monitoring it with my own stats and of course there are any number of others that you can use.  There is a clear closing trend that if continues could result in our overtake in less than a year (9mos according to EOC today).  Just last month that overtake was 12mos, so there is some acceleration happening and I see it in my own graphs/tracking.  I'm not trying to say "the sky is falling", just that there appear to be some storm clouds on the horizon.

EOC Overtake forecast:

My own tracking:  In the 1st graph, the "red" bars are the days that [H] out-produced EVGA and the bar depth is by how much.  In the 2nd graph, [H]'s trend line is clearly on a sharper incline of growth that EVGA's:

Well everyone on EVGA is jumping on Crunching, so what do we expect? We can't win at everything.

I agree that there have been a series of events that have taken their toll on our Folding, but EVGA Crunchers is not the big reason IMO.  I feel that [H] has most likely out-built us in these high-end-tall-PPD boxen, they may have been more effective at using HPCS, and maybe other reasons.  We have to remember that [H] was Crunching and Folding before we were, so if we really are the superior Team, we should be able to Crunch and Fold to Championship heights!  Time will tell if we can step onto that plate...

They also have many 2P and 4P systems, where they benefit from the boost in -bigadv points lately.

Main Rig:
Intel i7 920 [C0] @ 3.82Ghz | EVGA X58 [759] Classified (64) | MM Extended Ascension w/ Pedestal | Corsair HX1050
24GB Patriot Viper II ‘Sector 7’ 2000mhz (9-11-9-27) @ 1.65v | 2x EVGA GTX480 (875/2000 @1.1v) | CPU, GPUs and Mobo on H2O

Dedicated Folding Rig: ~In Progress~
Intel i7 3770K | EVGA Panther Point Mobo | Corsair AX650 | 8GB Corsair Vengeance 2000mhz (10-10-10-27) @ 1.5v

still waiting for my keplers
and of course I'll be doing a another rig later in the year

Yes I also made note of it on another thread.
We need to increase awareness and bring new blood into folding

we need to stop complaining about F@H ...the decision is made

later down the road when benchmarking is done - work will be assigned by ability to do it

We need to ramp up and fold like the dickens...
get out and bring new members in as well

Exactly, our secret-sauce has always been a strong and diverse Folding Team (not being top-heavy in High-PPD-Boxen).  So, I agree with you that our quest is to add members no matter if their production capability is large, medium and small.  Increasing our own current Team's hardware capability is always a "plus" and we need that too.  We aren't gonna control Folding points and WUs, so we have to change how and what we use to we get them.  Diversity, numbers and a Team that people want to be part of are the winning ingredients IMO.  Fold-on my fellow members and grab a friend to join us along the way if you can!

Appoligizes to all, I was not complaining about the decision, Just mearly stating the fact that the loss of big advantage from five X58 boxes, has had a negative affect on my ability to help the team. I am not saying the decision was bad, only that it Hurt. I will still break 38 million for year four, Just please don't expect me to match that in year 5, a better estamate might be a little more than the 18 Million I got for for year 3.

What are you talking about man? Good Lord... Look up the facts before you blow off like that. We have 99 Crunchers and that is it. There are over 1000 folders... Yes we have grown. And folks are doing both and folks are only doing one or the other. We are the same team helping each other in our own way...

Now it could actually be they are just doing a really good job at finding ways to do better. Something we should be and are dong as well.

^^^LOL personal attack removed (rcranfield)

Think whatever you want, the facts are posted in the OP. I'm saying EVGA needs more folders, more rigs, or something. And honestly I don't give one piece of crap if someone beats us. There's a few of EVGA members (Cough cough), who are all about "how great EVGA is". If you will sit down and think, you'll find it doesn't matter who's in first place, or if we are even in last. When I fold, I do it for everyone with cancer (Present, and future patients). That's what folding is all bout.

I get tired of all this crap, of people trying to get everyone to fold or crunch to beat everyone.

Sincerly, -EG91

Call it what you will, but the competition only helps people fold more, and more folding = faster / better research towards the prevention of cancer and other diseases.

So, the competition is great, maybe not for the right reasons, but who cares if the outcome is better results for the real cause anyway?

I do not see it as a competition. I see it as more of an awareness for those that want to help and have the time or abilities to do so.

Each and every unit completed is of value for the cause... Not point totals. Yet point totals is what gives the majority a way to be "Informed".

Before points....... Only a handful of producers maxed out around 300, introduced points... Hundreds of thousands of producers...

Sorry, but points matter. In every walk of life in nearly every measuring stick... People need to know where they stared and how they are doing...

Was this not to be expected after the changes in the last 2 years? Pande group has rewarded large multi thread rigs and done nothing for GPU folders. [H] has a lot of folders with deep pockets who can build whatever rigs pande says to, we on the other had have a lot of gamers who fold on gaming rigs. Now that the real big points are coming from dedicated(and extremely expensive) server rigs and not from typical gaming rigs the pendulum has swung back to [H] having the upper hand.

It was a good run but with the current state of the point system it is an inevitable slide to second place. Nothing shy of a mass influx of new folders will change that.

Hey fellas...I certainly didn't intend for anyone to be offended over anything in this thread.  Nobody needs to apologize for anything because we are all just airing our thoughts here (same and different).  My intent was simply to say "heads up" for those that care about where we are with respect to the #2 Team in the world.  I thought HPCS was actually going to hand all of us our hats until recently and you had to love what they were doing too.

I'll admit that I like that we have achieved the #1 Folding Team Spot in the World and that I have a special feeling about this Team, EVGA as a company and what we have come together to do here.  It is quite frankly awesome to me and lots of people before me pulled hard on this Team for us to take that #1 spot.  I tell my wife all the time that even though we have contests and compete against other Teams, we are still all one large world-unit pulling together on this task.  As is so often said "now how cool is that"?  I'm comfortable that we have Team members that are competitive for Team position and ones that are solely focused on the act of Folding as their interest.  I think, bottom-line, most of us got into this for the same reasons (to help solve these diseases).

This is a great Team and we will be that way (as other Teams are today) no matter what position we hold, but I still like that we are #1!

You didn't offend anyone. Some people just let emotion overwhelm them and don't wait for it to subside before posting.  We do have a great team and a rank will never change that nor will the willingness to explore other projects that are not F@H. The crunching team has not hurt our rank at all. The majority of the people crunching are doing so for their own reasons. Some do because of the (IMO) unfair changes to the point system others do it to spread around the "help" they are doing for DC projects. Heck, I only started crunching because my 780i rig will not smp fold and i hated the fact it sat idle. Everyone has their reasons and no one should look down on them for that choice.

In all honesty staying on top comes down to the powers that be at EVGA. No one can dispute the fact that the rewards here are what got us to the top so fast. But so much has changed in the last 4 years that just to reap the rewards is costing 3-4x what we sow. This alone has caused a lot to question how much or to participate at all.  And with all the changes it is hard to say "just up the bucks each month" when the GPU folding is not bringing in the returns it was 4 years ago. When i started folding it was all about GPU farms but times have changed and have changed in such a way the EVGA does not reap the rewards of the (for lack of a better term) sponsorship. EVGA does not make server boards for high end AMD chips and that is where the huge points are now. Things are just not what the once where, Pande has changed focus on what is important to them and that does not fall in the lines of the products EVGA makes.

Its just how it is, nobody is at fault(well...Pande group sort of) its just the evolution of the project.

While I have made the change from folding to crunching.  But I do feel that if we are in danger of losing our top spot I'll climb back on board for a little help when I can.

Still have a sour taste in my mouth with FAH and Stanford.  But I will try to put that aside just for the sake of helping our team maintain that #1 spot if all possible.

Well it is true that since November 2011, we lost production and [H] gained some. [H] has been building more and more multi-P systems, just take a look at their top 20, you'll see. In the meantime, bigadv changes caused loss of points for both teams as not all [H] folders are multi-P system owners (they have ~700 active folders), and there is no way to say which team got affected worse.
On the other hand, our team members who left folding for crunching would probably make 4Mil PPD according to my estimations. I know it's only 100 donors but most of them were actually mid to heavy hitters. It's their choice, and I respect that. So, no offense, just analyzing the current situation. I believe some folders slowed down or totally stopped folding due to disappointment with PG.

To summarize:
1) Both teams lost PPD due to bigadv changes but it's hard to say which team lost more.
2) But [H] responded by building more multi-P (very) heavy hitters.
3) We also lost PPD due to move to crunching and due to hard feelings.
4) Both teams gained PPD due to HPCS but it's hard to say which team gained more.
