    What Resolution you playing at?
A moderate OC is quite simple n safe, use either MSI Afterburner or latest Precision, move your Core up by 10Mhz increments and test each time (watch Temps), once you've found the "sweet spot" (no crashing, artifacts or Black Screens), work on GPU Memory in much the same way.
Set up some Fan Profiles to keep temps down while gaming, good luck and have fun!

I was stable at 900mhz Core with 1.125v on both cards which gave me about 10% performance boost in BF3, with a good custom fan profile my temps never went above 75c!

You don't need to have it overclocked 24/7, just make a profile and use it before you game. Also memory overclock will give you little to none performance boost, not worth in my opinion!

I game at 1920x1080p, also i almost spent mt entire savings on this new Rig of mine, will it be a wiser choice to go with a single kepler GPU when they come out or buy another GTX 580 and SLI it with the one i already own? im not into benching, all i really care about is pure gaming performance.

honestly we wont know until we get kepler in our hands. i for 1 just "invested" in 2 580's for slibut thats juat me. at 1920x1080 you should get good performance with just 1 card. i was happy with a single HC2 1.5gig w/ ultra settings in BF3.

i dont know what temps your at now but you can get alittle more out of that 2600k your running. you might see some gains by doing that.

Well, 580 SLI will definitely have much more GP power than a single Kepler, but you can buy another Kepler later on and SLI them, at this point if you wanna go Kepler i would get on selling your 580 right now and no later! If i were you, i would give Kepler a shot, but i'm not a big fan of first generation of the new series GPU!

Yea i never overclocked my 2600K before, there are too many settings and options, im scared i might mess something up, my CPU is watercooled with Corsair H80 and my temps at idle and desktop use is 32   31   32   30

your asus board will be very different then i'm used to and looking on their forums might help you better. however it really is as simple and setting the cpu voltage to around 1.3-1.35 and upping your multiplier to 40-45 and testing with prime or linux. here is an O/C guide for evga's board but again checking on asus's forum will give you more insight to their bios. http://forums.evga.com/tm.aspx?m=1033200

also heres an o/c guide for video cards i found on our forums: http://forums.evga.com/tm.aspx?m=139251 some of the drivers are out of date but you will get the general idea from there.

i just overclocked my 2600k to 4.2ghz and turned off intel speedstep and intel turbo boost, is that ok or should i turn them back on?
Also OCed my gtx 580 ( Core Clock: 815, Shaderclock: 1630 ) how much performance boost should i expect from this OC? is it even enough for gaming or am i better off leave it at stock rates?

4.2Ghz is very safe as long as the temps are low, what cooler?  speed step is power saving, if you want power all the time and don't care about your power bill turn it off. 1st thing I disable.

815 is a light OC for these cards. with proper settings (set voltage) and a adjustment in the fan profile you can run them at 850 to 900Mhz.

You can OC it and find out for yourself. no reason to ask us what is good or not for your system. imo if you don't see a boost then it isn't worth it to OC and burn up your hardware. That said I run two GTX 580s (3GB) highly OC (900+) and water cooled.

My temps are around 32-33c at idle and around 55-60 at max load, btw I have Turbo boost disabled as well, is it ok?

i know on the evga boards you need turbo boost on but again i dotn know asus bios's. you temps are fine. my 2600k witha 360 rad and true water set up does the same at idle and 65 full load @ 4.6.

with both o/c's you did you should see a 10-15fps boost i would guess.

With both mild OC that I did to my GPU and CPU, will it damage and wear me off if running my system 24/7??

Well, higher voltage and higher temps do reduce hardware/TIM life span, but i'm pretty sure you will upgrade 2-3 times before that happens :)

Like i said before, you don't need to run your GPU's overclocked 24/7, just make a profile and use it before you game! You can also use Intel Speed Step in your BIOS, that'll calm your CPU down when power not needed!

yeah with that mild o/c you have no issues with things wearing out. ive been running way higher then that for almost a year now with no issues.

Yea I made a profile for my GPU on afterburner with fan profile so with every temperature rise fan speed rise 3% , so if GPU is at 50c my fan speed goes to 53%

great choice like I posted b4 in ur other thread; well I held off on doing the exact same thing u want to do I didn't think it was worth it, I have mine at 900MHz with 1.100 volts, I play bf3 and others with all the eye candy settings nice and smooth just didn't c the need, performance wise I know there wont b much or any difference except using more power
