So I been dealing with an issue where my screens will go black for a second and I get an error Display driver stopped responding... I just got a new SSD so did a fresh install, and I am still getting this issue. This is on 285.62 was hoping it would clear up after a fresh install but guess not. I think this all started happening after the latest driver so curious if anyone else with 400 series is having an issue with this. Cards are stock clocks.

The 290.53 driver has some great 400 series fixes in it.... I would certainly try it, just be aware that on "some" x58 SLI systems 290.53 isnt letting users enable SLI If 290.53 wont let you enable SLI, then 285.79 is your best bet bro

Well I installed 290.53 and gaming was fine but just had driver stopped responding again just browsing online. Wasn't doing anything else. A lot of times it happens on desktop, or browsing.

If by fresh install you mean you completely reinstalled windows, i got nothing. If however; you meant a fresh install of the drivers, I would reformat. I had a problem like that a few years ago, back when the 680i was the hottest piece of work the world had ever seen. Constant crashes no matter how many times i wiped and reinstalled drivers. Reformatted, installed newest drivers, and everything worked fine for a while. Then my HDD died completely about 3 weeks later.

I did however just re configure monitor cables so they are in the correct order. They were showing up 1, 3, 2 now they are 1, 2, 3 not sure but I could see this maybe causing issues cause primary monitor was on second card. Not sure though.

got that same thing happening with 285.62 with my 460 and with my new 560. Happens predominantly when web browsing, or even just looking through my folders. Seems nVidia is just continuing its recent form of releasing rubbish drivers.

Just installed latest chipset drivers and after it finished it asked me to restart clicked ok, and got a nvdklm bsod when it restarted... This was on the screen when it loaded back up... Getting tired of this. At this point not sure if it is the cards or the drivers since every driver I have tried does the same thing...

This is one of the reasons I went back to Nvidia was I got tired of ATI driver issues now dealing with the same thing with Nvidia... Wonder if ATI got it's kinks ironed out... Might have to make the switch back to ATI. Should not be having these kind of issues on a fresh install. I never had these problems when I first got my 460's... but it seems as of late the nvidia drivers have been causing all sorts of crap. I would go back to older drivers but I play BF3 and they require the latest ones for what ever reason.

Im gettting the same thing and ontop of it,. Also getting opengl errors: right after that: I was working in Sketchup when the above pics. Has happen more than a few times. I have tryed: 285.62 280.26 275.33 I ended up going back to 266.33, I was trouble free for 7 months, and Sam3 wanted a newer driver. I work more than I play. This driver crap keeps going, I might go back to Quadro's and get a Xbox360. This was the very reason I quit buying ATI(AMD) GPU's Im loyal to EVGA, not Nvidia. May we plase get an EVGA tech on this?

unfortunately Evga cannot do anything about the drivers. They are developed and distributed solely by nVidia. From what I have read, ATI drivers are just as bad at the moment. Hopefully they will get their collective butts into gear and give us some reliable drivers at some stage!

Yes, EVGA can do something. They can let us know, "We got ur back, were doing our part with Nvidia. We got our customers backs!" This could hurt EVGA GPU sells and repeat customers. Like I said before, I stop buying ATI GPU's because of this same BS......

Or do I need to start some RMA's on my card's.

I dont play many games or game much. 266 will play Sam3. games: Without issues with 266 and 285 Trine2 Sam1 Sam3 Lego's I havent had problems with said drivers during gameplay, just when im working or surfing. Almost like a refresh or redraw problem.

Edit: If Nvidia dosent pull their head out butt, I might just have to wait a year after next gens GPUs are out. When people dont spend, its not good for bizz..... What would happen if no one bought Nvidia for a year?

knight? How long have you had 266 installed without issue... You mentioned 285 as well without game issues but did 285 still give you the stopped responding error not in game? I think you are right though, has to be a driver issue... and I am curious how many others are having this same issue with 4 series cards and new drivers. I have also had that same opengl error forgot to mention that. That was before the fresh install don't recall what I was doing at that time...

You will get an error message that says the driver is out of date but you can still play the game ok, at least that's what happened when I tried it on my system.

Just the typical crashes here and there, along the same lines of what you described in your OP.

I have had this issue for months. Only "fix" that I found was improving the voltage to 1.037 with MSI Afterburner. If you are wondering how many people are having this issue, you can check on Nvidia forums. There are plenty of threads about it. Hope they can fix it for real eventually.
