Came home from work to find a clogged up doorstep....

Oh look...some nice backplates

But what's in the big box?? Oh my...

But wait...there's more...

Back to those backplates. They are nice...but I don't have 480's, so lets get to work. You know it's srs bznz when toilet paper is involved.

A little bit more rubbing and whipping...

Much better. I sent this pic to a graphic artist buddy of mine and he's going to make some silver decals to add the "560Ti 448" and a small "Classified" in red to go underneath

After a quick trip to ACE to pick up some hardware to attach these bad boys, they were on in a jiff...

After moving my H100 up to the top and doing some cable maintenance, I don't think they look half bad...

And of course with the light up logos for "Look at how awesome I am" touch

Then just for giggles I did a 3DMark11 shakedown run. This is still with my "it's too hot in here 4.6Ghz" profile, I'm going to go back to my 4.9Ghz as I start overclocking the 560's.

Not back for just installing drivers and firing them off.

Well needless to say I'm happy  Can't wait to keep tinkering.

I can't remember off the top of my head, but I believe it was two M2x6 machine screws with a few washers and nuts. I bought a few that were close since it was going to be close to the heat sink. All in all I spent like $4.00 and threw the rest in my "****idroppedthatscrewandits2am" jar in my garage.

looks awesome. your effort on the backplates is amazing!

so you cannot put these cards in the first two pci x16 slots? is it due to the back plates or are these guys really wider than regular cards? so you can only fit two in a 3 pci x16 mobo?

thanks for the pics , you already made them very happy with good care, i am sure they will return the favor!

    Thanks

The backplates weren't really hard, just had to get to get some extra hardware since the screws they send are meant to go into the heatsink on the 480. The one that comes on the Classy's is different, so I had to make due. I know it's silly...but I just can't run a card without a backplate now...it feels naked.

As for the slots, I have an ASUS P8P67 Pro:

So it went in the top dark blue and white slots for the SLI config. The cooler does hang a bit low and blocked my sound card from going back into my top PCI slot. I'll just bump that one over to my other rig and pick up a PCI-E sound card for this rig.

I was afraid that the writing on the backplate was etched on. It's pretty awesome you were able to rub it off.

Nice setup, I almost did the same thing but didn't want to wait for the classifieds to ship to me, so I grabbed a 580 GTX SC... I'll grab another when the price drops and SLI them. Our rigs are very similar. That an H100 I see? I have the H100, HX1000, and 500R case... enjoy tinkering with those! Like I said,  I debated heavily between the 448 core... but I knew if I wanted to buy one down the line to SLI, it may be hard to find.

I bumped the one up so they are both at 1.038 right now and moved the cores up 830/1660 and the memory to 2050, that brought my 3DMark up to 10,897. I'm going to keep tinkering today along with some extensive game "testing".

My defaults were 1.013 and 1.038.

That's odd, the review sites not only state but show the default core vtt being 1.025

Every card is different, not all of them will have a default 1.025v. For example mine is 1.038 as well.

Unless they're using different bios revisions, this should not be the case. When my card gets here on monday, it will be interesting to check it's vtt in 2d@ idle, under load, etc.

If one of you guys with the classified model are feeling generous, you could dump your bios with gpu-z and upload it to mediafire.com and post a link to it. I'd like to open it up with NiBiTor and see whats going on with it.

Can you explain the reason for backplates? People always get excited about them, are they just for looking sexy?

Um no, this applies to cpus also. The voltage varies between cards because of the differences in quality of the cores. Nvidia cards have been like this for awhile now.

The bios determines the voltage. Two cards with the same bios aren't going to have different voltages.
You don't know what you're talking about.
