What can that PSU power?


The purpose of this thread is to help people shopping for PSUs (or considering heavier loads on the one they have) to determine the real-world capacity of a given power supply. Hopefully this will make it easier to answer those “can my PSU handle all this in SLI?” threads.

Please copy/paste this template and I’ll add your experience to the list:

You don’t have to add every single part, like low CFM fans, low-power PCI cards, basic keyboards, etc. Just post or PM me if unsure.

If you have multiple builds running the same PSU, list the system that you think put the heaviest load on the PSU for the longest. Please only list PSU/builds that you used for a long duration (i.e., longer than two months). 

Please DO list PSUs that failed, under notes/duration.

Great PSU has long cables so no extensions should be needed but there are a lot of cables so if you don't have a lot of components to connect or you will have a hard time hiding them this would possible not be the PSU for you. Even with the HAF 932 I really couldn't hide them properly. As someone had already said and my first impression on the product was MADUSA!!!

    Verdict--------------ALIVE and well after 5 months, never a problem even after many kaBoom's benching, comes back like a champ. Great PSU has long cables so no extensions should be needed but there are a lot of cables so if you don't have a lot of components to connect or you will have a hard time hiding them this would possible not be the PSU for you. Even with the HAF 932 I really couldn't hide them properly. As someone had already said and my first impression on the product was MADUSA!!!

    Updated. Looks like another X3 1000W had a very similar problem with GTX 260 SLI, not building a very good Ultra track record in this thread

    It is a really nice looking PSU, you can see your reflection in it but that means nothing if it won't power cards higher than the 9800s.

    I can't wait to build my i5 setup with this PSU.  I'm curious to see how it will handle the overclocks (hopefully at least 4 ghz on an i5 750) with my overclocked GTX 480.  If it's any consolation, I'm getting rid of my PPU.

    My Antec NeoPower HE550W survived another year of mainly folding, so: Alive ~4 years now.

    My Corsair HX850W is powering 4 x GTX 460 SC, 800/1600/1900 (folding 24/7) now, instead of the 4 x GTS 250 and Alive ~1 year.

    Added with Jonny Review as well. Nice to see someone using this unit (you're the only person I know who could fit it into a color scheme so well) -- it gets overlooked because of its appearance and XFX's newcomer status in the PSU world, but it's right up there with the HX850 in reviews.

    Corsair TX750W Failed. I updated my original entry for this unit.

    Just a reminder that while Corsair makes some very, very good PSUs, they are not fool-proof. The unit died powering an ITX system. Now I will get to see if Corsair's support lives up to it's reputation.
