I've tried a few times to get a sig with stats working but I'm such a noob. Every time I sit down to mess with it my son wakes up and interrupts me. I like Afterburners

Tank,

You need to go to this thread over in the WCG Forum, use your WCG Login and ask SNURK to create one for you.  That is what AB did and several others (myself included).  Just go to end of this thread and create a new reply to ask for one to be made.  In your reply post, you also need to provide SNURK with your WCG Account Number which is on your WCG Profile screen.

I also saw in one of SNURK's responses (1st or 2nd page) of that thread his answer as to how to get the image that he creates for you to show up.  SNURK said...

"I guess you all know how to add a picture to your forum signature. just add [ img]http://wcgsig.250free.com/xxxxxx.gif[ /img] (without the spaces) in your forum signature."

I expect that once he has created your Sig image for you and he provides it, you will use your particular numbers from your .gif image for that xxxxxx.gif statement.  I haven't done it yet because I just requested the image from SNURK myself today.  I'm sure AB, Punchy or others can guide us how to get that part done once we have the .gif image from SNURK.

When he posted his note saying he had mine created, I just clicked on the link for mine, copied that address from the browser address bar, then went to my profile, edit signature, and used the "insert picture" thingie, and pasted the address there.

I think we might all be overwhelming SNURK with our sig requests, as fast as this team is starting up.

Tank,

You need to go back into your post and add your WCG Account Number for SNARK to do his thing.

On the main WCG website, login and then go to "My Grid"/"My Profile" from the selections bars on that page.  In the "My Profile" page near the bottom you will see:

"The following information is used on websites which integrate with World Community Grid:"
Account Number:         xxxxxx (your 6 digit number)

Cool, even easier.  Yeah, I figure that he will batch process some when he gets time to do it and I'm willing to be patient.  Maybe he needs a website like the one we have for our FAH Sig data where you just enter your own info and create the Sig yourself?  I'm no programmer, so that stuff is beyond me...

I use allprojectstats for signatures. With this site you can load all your BOINC DC projects in your signature. You can also choose to show a team-based signature.

Does anyone know or have noticed if SNURK's sigs update and how often?  I've been above 20 units returned for at least 36 hours or so now....

Your sig is showing 62 units returned as I'm posting. Hope that helps.

This will take a bit of getting used to over here. But for me, I think the path to calmness needs to be forced uponst me. I've actually had enough of mc'y d's. It's refreshing to go for a "sit down" meal.

Yep.. Just for what it's worth...

This is why in the WCG@EVGA Faq's I said to look at a weeks worth of consistent work before judging your own productivity or even the Team's...

As everything (Ish) is verified before credits are awarded. So even if you have to shut down for a day or two no one will notice in the totals.. They would have to go here to see it...

I know it takes awhile for stuff to get verified and credited....  Before I started folding over here, I crunched for alot of projects, none were really for cures, more about math and space, PrimeGrid, Collatz, Einstein, SETI, orbit, MilkyWay, YoYo, Cosmology are the ones I remember, one never really had work.  I wasn't really part of a team, I would just have the computer up and running, crunching away 7 threads at stock clocks because I didn't know how to overclock or anything.  My gtx 295 went out on me and I forgot to register it and lost the lifetime warranty on it and then moved to FAH and evga when I got my 460 and everything changed.....

I jut didn't know if the sig was static, I did something wrong attaching it or what because all of the stats sites showed me almost 2 days ahead of what the sig does....

I gotcha

The sigs are not static.. And I think (No idea here) that the SNURK sigs only update once a day. Mine has looked the same all day.. and yesterdays never updated... So at some point last night it did update...

I see the tracker has you kicking along pretty darn good! Looks like you are on track to do over 6k in the last two days.. My bet is you will see a large leap in movement tomorrow after it updates again =]

I did notice all the stats are a bit off. At WCG it shows me with over 70k but that doesn't show up in other stat pages.

Re:Could someone make me a sig? 2011/11/19 17:10:01 (permalink)
Just so you know. WCG points and Boinc points are different. This always confuses new members. WCG's point system is different from BOINC's. When the WCG project first started, it did not use BOINC. It was only later that BOINC was added as a client. But since BOINC uses a different point system, WCG had to come up with a way to convert BOINC points into WCG points. The current formula is one BOINC point equals approximately seven WCG points.

BOINC uses a validation process. The same work unit must be processed error-free by at least two different computers (hosts) before credit is awarded. The validation process can take anywhere from a day to a week. So when you install BOINC you will probably notice that you weren't awarded many points the first couple of days. This is normal.

One other important thing about points:

From the WCG website:

Will I lose points if a work unit finishes slower than usual?

No. Points are not tied to number of work units, but amount of computational effort exerted. Therefore, if your computer worked for three days on one work unit, or in those same three days completed five work units, you would get the same amount of points if the machine worked at the same level of effort.

I think the stat sites take longer to update since data would have to be sent from the project site and considering the amount of projects and teams and users the combined stat sites track, it would take forever in processing and updating everything....  But I could be wrong....
