BIOS 83 Updates:
  • Updates CPU Microcode
  • Improved CPU Support

BIOS updating can be accomplished VIA the below methods:

  • Use a CD Burning software to burn the .iso image onto a blank CD (Nero, Alochol 120%, MagicISO etc.)
  • After it has burned, insert CD and restart the machine, go into the BIOS and load defaults, save and exit
  • Now set the CD Drive as the primary boot device, or press escape while the system is booting to select CD as the bootable device.
  • After flash remove the CD, and power off PC Completely.
  • Turn on the PC and load defaults in BIOS

What are the changes? if your running fine on your presant CPU, and don't plan on changing, is this necessary ? Is this 990 995 support ? does it do anything for the 970 980 non X , turbo issues ? Sorry about all the questions, I just don't like changing BIOS, unless it fixes something. I know it is unlikley but a power glitch during an update could cause an un-necessary RMA, Just checking.

The link to the BIN on the X58 SLI (758) EVGA bios 83 download page under "SUPPORT" has a link to the 76083.bin file. Of course the AWDFLASH utility says "no way am I going to install that" so you have to come here to find it. And this page is so new that it isn't indexed by Google yet, so it's a real PITA to find.

I've added this to the BIOS Changelog for the E759 Classified Limited Edition Board (<-link), in case you want to check out the notes and links for current and past BIOSes, both official and beta (Thirty of them and counting...) for this great motherboard.

So even after telling us months ago that "We are working on it", EVGA still hasn't sorted out the issue of Vcore not dropping with the multi when speedstep and C1E are enabled.

I can only assume EVGA_JacobF, that EVGA were not working on it, or they can't be bothered ?

Have you tried a different PSU?  Adding IOH Vcore? ICH Vcore?

Any ideea why when programming new BIOS blocks 1,3,4,5 are marked as Write Fail? Is it normal on this BIOS version? On 82 I've observed that on the first batch of blocks the marking was No Update.
    Thanks!

Helpful.  Thanks for that.  It would be nice to explain exactly what updated CPU microcode means.  I also would like to know if it helps with the turbo issues with the 970.

Hi Guys, I'm having a problem updating by BIOS. I tried updating to BIOS 82 and 83 via the cd method and did as directed. When I restarted my computer with the disc in the drive it went to the BIOS screen and just sat there with enter a name or whatever flashing, which was already there. What could be the problem? I have the X 58 Classified 3 board. The new BIOS obviously burt properly so I,m dumbfounded.
Is there anything you know of or have you heard of this happening before? Like I said, It did the same thing for both 82 and 83!
Could use a little help here. T.Y.

    Hey hairy0,

One of the stranger reasons I've seen for this is the type of CD/DVD drive  connection.  Is yours IDE or SATA?  There have been a few posters who had this problem with IDE drives and solved it by installing a SATA optical drive.

    ^ +1
Another note: That prog sits there like that for a while sometimes, and if you don't wait for the other thing to come up first (depending on the commandline switches) and you act too quickly it messes it up and you need to boot again to get it to work right. This only seems to be a problem when you automate the process with a commandline switch like the one to back up the current BIOS first (which is impossible to do on a CD-R). FYI.

The FTP site is broken for me, I would like to get my motherboard BIOS updated.

** Apparently after 7th Angel verified the link is working it has come to my attention it is a Corp block on FTP on my end ** I spoke out of turn and do apologies to any and all who took offense at my lack of professionalism.

I just downloaded the E760 83 BIOS update from the USB link provided. The link IS working.
