Recently came across this video on youtube with someone running an air duct off of the Corsair H50, I thought it was a great idea and would work both in an intake or exhaust config. You would always have cold air running through the rad. Has anyone tried this at all and maybe comment on its effectiveness ? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZiRLh-LqohM

Yeah I seen that last week He said the top fan was pretty much useless since so much air is being pushed through that having it on or off doesn't make a difference

I'm sure it's a non-issue but all that bare aluminum in the case like that? I promise that if I ran that set-up that Murphy would personally visit and destroy something via a direct short

If you could do a smooth plastic tube like what is used in automotive cold-air intakes, it would be much more efficient and attractive. Complicated to pull off, and probably pretty expensive , though. I still think it's much simpler and pretty close to the same efficiency level if you have an upper front intake fan blowing towards a push-pull exhaust setup on the H-Series radiators. Look at my ModsRigs page to see how mine is done, with an extra front intake in the 5.25 bay area of a CM Storm Scout case. I get extremely cool temps...

Yes... Except I have my corsair h-70 as air intake, same tubing running from my air vent to the radiator during summer, all tubing outside the case. During the other 9 months of the year (Seattle) I have a window kit pulling in outside air, very effective. Just ordered the H-100 so will require additional sheathing to accomodate the 240 mm length versus working with 120 x120. Cost of the tubing and vent sheath about $30.00 at Lowes...

During the winter, I opened up the windows in my room and had a vortex fan pushing the cold air onto my h50. I also used my extra 120mm fans to blow cold air over the motherboard.

@jlee im not in an area that has a real winter, but I run my PC right under a window AC vent, andthe air coming out of my rad into the case is still cooler than ambient. Cold air through rads works great.

If I was going to go that far I would have a AC Unit hooked up to it and blow into that case through the radiator in the back. because then the air would still be cold most likely and keep everything else cool.

Wasnt directly designed for it, but where I had my comp desk at was near a window, and it gets HOT here, so added a window AC. Noticed it blew across where my case was, so when I rebuilt a few years ago, i put the rad on top and had it sucking air in. Wasnt doing a purpose built AC'd loop, just things lined up well to use it like that.

Cute!.. They have ducts like that in plastic to hook up to 120mm fans... you might want to like into that, more importantly is doesn't conduct. or you can look for pvc houses they go up to 6" and come in different colors. They sell per foot. do a search for foam and rubber.. in New York, on canal street, the place is called canal foam and rubber.<-----just an example. Claude

It doesnt get real cold here. Maybe around 15 F in the winter. Having a window near my computer was the only thing I liked about our townhouse that we had last winter. This winter I might just take my whole system to the back patio to try and get up to 5GHZ or higher. It shouldn't be to hard to hit that. With my new h100 My max temps are in the low 60's with 1.3 volts. That is with 4.5GHZ on the processor. I might mess with it tonight and see how high I can get at 1.3volts.

looks like a pretty neat idea, but honestly why not just run it with the side panel off and achieve the same results?
