Soooo I finally got around to using DVI instead of the VGA to DVI adapter and the desktop wont all fit on the screen.....the right bit of my screen is blocked off. Im using EVGA GTX 460 1GB GDDR3....bought it a couple months ago and havent had any problems since this. Im running Windows Vista and am using an Acer X203h 20' monitor.......sorry if somebody has posted this before!! Looked around and havent found anything similar......Ive also messed around with virtually ALL of the nVIDIA control panel settings and nothing has worked....any help would be very, very appreciated!

Have you tried adjusting your resolution via Window's display settings? It's not Nvidia Control Panel, but rather the display settings that you access through Windows Control Panel.

Don't you think it may be helpful if you were to tell everyone what that is.

Try this, man......Rt.-click on the Desktop > select Screen Resolution in Resolution dropdown list select 1600X900 then make sure Orientation is Landscape and hit the apply button. Then above the Apply button click on Advanced settings link > monitor Tab > Screen Refresh Rate drop down list and select 60Hz. Apply and OK. After doing the above, go into the Nvidia Control Panel . Display > Change Resolution....and it should show exactly the same there. PC 1600 X 900 (native) 60Hz.

☄ Helpful
Maybe it can be that the format is not appearing on the control panel, it should be 16:9 format, and maybe is only showing the 4:3 format.

really nothing wrong with using VGA, just be sure the sharpness on your monitor settings is turned up to max or it will be a bit blurry on that port (at least that was the case on my samsung 23" when I tried it)

You have a digital GFX card sending out a digital signal to a digital monitor....I fail to understand why anyone would even consider not taking full advantage of that and look at an analog picture. @OP...If you are not using a Dual Link DVI-D to DVI-D cable.......get one.......that is why you are having this issue. It is the digital to analog conversion that is causing the problem on your display. Here is a very inexpensive, good quality cable.......I have 2 of them myself and they are great: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Cables-Unlimited-DVI-D-M-to-M-Dual-Link-Cable-6-Feet/9875857

The other poster was just expressing it is OK to do it. Not that they should. You have a very valid point though, why go backwards when it is all there? Maybe it is a need, or available plug in options at the other end, and so on...

Oh...I fully understood what he was saying........and before making my solution comments I looked up his monitor.....it does have a DVI plug in on it.

what AB said is correct, I only use the VGA plug if I have a third system going or testing one I'm building, etc etc. I do keep my second system on the DVI port at all times but still though as long as the sharpness is turned up on the monitor the VGA will look just as good as the DVI. It's what the feuture is thier for, clears up the analog signal. I compared both.

I hear ya , Nite I still hope that the OP gets a DVI-D cable and lets us know if that resolved his issue or not.
