As the title says, not new to building PCs, new to using Nvidia and SLI. My current setup is an Asus Rampage III Formula mobo, i7 960 OC to 3.9ghz, 570 GTX SC and 570 GTX both are in PCIe x16 slots. Whenever I open up the control panel it tells me that the second card (the SC) is in a low performance slot. Before I installed the second 570, that was the slot I always used for the single card and no errors or messages like this showed up. Just wondering if anyone else has this issue and what you did to fix it. I've already checked my BIOS to make sure I have both set to x16, and I'm unable to try the third PCIe because my network card is in the way in the PCI slot under it. Short of reinstalling all drivers I'm not sure what else to do here. I didn't have tiime to do benchmarks or try running any games yet, I'll try that tomorrow and see if the performance is reduced. *edit: Forgot to mention, my PSU is 800 watt, and rather high-end.

No worries, that message is just telling you one of your cards is not running at x16 This is because your motherboard can -only- run (2) cards at x16, if there are no other PCIEx devices installed. Since you appear to have a network PCIEx installed, you have dropped down to x8 on one card. This is NOT a problem, as a 570 will perform just fine in a x8 slot. If it really bothers you, you can remove all other PCIEx devices from your slots and run both cards at x16/x16. -->I would urge you to run some benchmarks in your current x16/x8 config, then run the same tests at x16/x16... you will find at most a 2-3% differance, most likely no real differance at all. SLI 570's is a very sweet setup Welcome to the EVGA Fourms

Thanks for the help. It only bothers me because of how OCD I am about my rig (I had nothing but problems for the first week) and how long it took to get EVGA's PCI power splitters to work :P I'll just leave it. No sense depriving myself of wi-fi for 2-3% when one card did fine for most games already On a somewhat related note, what would the good folks here at EVGA recommend for a new case. I current have a Thermaltake Armor+ MX and wanted to upgrade to something bigger without sacrificing the great airflow I'm getting

I do believe that if you have the primary card in an x16 slot and the secondary card in an x8 slot....when you turn on SLI....both cards will run at x8. Also, if you do have a "high end" PSU....you should not be having to use the included power splitters (you are speaking of the adaptors that came with the cards, right?) .....you should be using the PCI-ex labled cables from the PSU.

I have 2 6-pin and 2 8-pin, along with a ton of SATA and 4-pin...had I gone with 580s I wouldn't have needed the adaptors/splitters/what-have-you

Then, you should be using one of the 6pin cables and one of the 8pin cables on each card. There should be a removable 2pin section on the 8pin cable plug which turns it into a 6pin. Just tie or tape that detached 2pin section to the main cable for future 8pin use if needed.

No problem.....you only want to use those 4pin molex to PCI-ex adaptors if absolutely necessary. Since you said you are new to SLI.....here is some very helpful information for your educational reading pleasure: http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=158727

regarding your request for a new chasis, I can reccomend the Antech 1200. I have it myself and it gives me the best airflow I have ever had. 3 front 120mm fans, 1 side 120mm fan(just untop of your VGA's and a top 200mm fan running quiet and cool. It has some blue fan led's that you can cut if you are not into lighting. I find em usefull for telling me when I have to clean the 3 front intake fans for dust though.

Found out from re-reading the manual for my Mobo, for SLI to be x16 for both cards, one needs to be in slot 1, and the other in slot 3. I have them in 1 and 2, and 3 doesn't have enough room to fit these cards :( oh well Thanks for the help everyone. Can someone send me a working link for the unofficial SLI patch? Can't seem to get it. Also, I figure I may as well just add to this thread: My benchmark scores are REALLY low, like around 7000 in 3DMark, and I get rendering issues in both Witcher 1/2 but none in either Crysis. Anyone have any ideas?
