I recently thought I needed to update my bios (po7). So I began the flash procedure from cd with the iso image. Once I booted to the cd I did see the flash awards media screen and it said what filename to , and I tried to enter one there at the blinking cursor to no avail. So I just let it sit there for awhile, because I could not remember if this normal for I only have done this once before. Well it was like a half hour later and and I quit the procedure since I was not sure if I was doing this right...well ever since then my pc is acting wacked out with many appcrashes to list here. I have the default voltages and setting in the bios except for the memory settings of 9 9 9 24 in which my memory is set at. I have been running this system since 2008 pretty steady..but I began this week getting strange beep codes on boot, and some other episodes and crashes as of recent,  so I thought a bios upgrade would be a good start to begin my upgrades...Did I do the right thing on the flash protocol?

_thanks in advance

It is very evident that your BIOS upgrade did not work....probably due to the .iso image not getting burned properly to the CD. I suggest that you re-burn the image with this program ImgBurn... http://www.imgburn.com/index.php?act=download ....use the SLOWEST burn speed available.

First, go into the BIOS and load the defaults...then, reset the CMOS......then, boot to the upgrade disk. You should see a message saying the update was successful when it is done.

The BIOS flash evidently did not complete.  I notice that you are running 8GB of RAM with each set having different voltage requirements.  That can lead to problems.  I would remove one set and place the remaining set in the black slots and set the manufacturer's recommended timings and voltage.  Please completely fill out the below BIOS template, to include all numerical values for all "auto" settings in your BIOS.  Please post the RAM part numbers.

Thank you for help thus far.
I had successfully updated the bios to p10 with the help of Jeff, thank you. I removed the 1.5 volt memory and added the 1.6 bolt memory to the black dimms. I would try clearing the CMOS first.  I still use P08 because I have not had a reason to try P09 or P10.   You could also try swapping your RAM modules around, and check to make sure they are fully seated.  If you do so make sure that the PC is fully off and not in a sleep or hibernate state.

At the top of the forum page under Support, after you click it select all that applies, and when you get to the BIOS page, you will see of of the previous versions for the 790i Ultra.

Once again Thanks for all of your help. After all of the adjustments, it turns out I had 1 memory stick that the system could not boot with. So I removed that one. Everything is good, and I think I have a better understanding of BIOS settings and my computer.

That is good news....thankx for the update!! Whenever you make changes to your BIOS settings, it is always wise to test the RAM and CPU afterwards to help ensure that you will not have any issues.
