With the new moderators having been trained up and ready to do their worst out in the wild, we are going to make some small changes here and there based on feedback and complaints we have received.

Blue ribbons are going to be more plentiful.  I admitted before that we weren't giving out enough, this was because we simply didn't have enough manpower to do so.  Feel free to report any post you feel is BR-worthy.  In general we look harder at people that report their own posts, but we will award them if they are warranted.  Most importantly, we want BRs to mean something.  So if you see someone that helped a tech issue, went above and beyond to research a question without saying "there's a search feature noob", or even built a killer system please nominate them.  With everyone looking for BRs, we can give away a ton of them.  Feel free to keep posting milestone threads, we like giving the regulars a pat on the back.

We have gotten more and more complaints recently about off-topic remarks in threads.  We have been a little too lenient in this regard, so I would like to outline a new policy we have put in place effective today.  If a thread gets too far off topic, and a moderater can catch it in time, they will post a general warning to remain on the OP topic.  Any further posts after that point will be officially disciplined.

Our forums get 200+ posts per hour, we ask that our community work together to help us catch problems since it is literally impossible for our moderator team to keep up.  This is what the report post feature is for.  Please report posts that you feel break the terms and we will look into it.  If you do not get a direct reply to your ticket, please let me know directly as all mods should be replying with at least a "Thanks for pointing it out, we will take care of it" - or something similar.  You might not see it, but the moderators are constantly working behind the scenes.  I'm sure the new mods can attest to their surprise at what they work out and work on.

Lets keep working together and make sure this forum stays great!  Please reply with any questions you have for me, or if you have feedback and/or comments on anything you would like changed.  Of course, my inbox is always open :)

Can we have something about one word responses that don't add anything?

Saying "cool" doesn't help the thread. Neither does leaving a one emoticon response.

DUEL- A prearranged, formal combat between two persons, usually fought to settle a point of honor.
DUAL- composed or consisting of two people, items, parts, etc.

I don't really have an issue with that, it shows their appreciation for the information in the OP.

SPeaking as one of the new mods,I can tell you what Shane says is true. I spent almost my whole week last week looking over what the moderators were doing, trying to pick up some wisdom from them. Hopefully I can add some of my own personality to the mix as well.

When it comes to the TOS, we are pretty serious about it. If you haven't read it, I suggest you do. I think a lot of the TOS violations come simply because folks click 'agree' to the TOS when they sign up, and don't really read it. It is pretty basic and not long, so please look it over before that first warning comes.

We simply cannot be everywhere on the forums at all times. So I am counting on you guys and gals to be our extended eyes and ears. If your goal is to keep these forums friendly and informative please help us out by singling out those who help, those who inform and those who need some ......ahem....... attention. We really do appreciate it.

I REALLY like to give out BR's. Please let me or any of the other mods know when something strikes you as worthy.

I would like to add one thing to what Shane said.  Please do no speculate about the disciplinary actions taken toward another member.  That is gossip, and won't be tolerated.  You wouldn't want anyone talking about you would you.  Have faith that we do see what is going on are on top of it.

If you get a warning for something, please accept it with dignity.  Also please do not drag anyone down with you.  If there was more than one person in violation, trust that we are handling it.

Those who abuse power, are nothing but scumbags! The challenge of power is how to use it and not abuse it. The abuse of power that seems to create the most unhappiness is when a person uses personal power to get ahead without regards to the welfare of others, people are obsessed with it. You can take a nice person and turn them into a slob, into an insane being, craving power, destroying anything that stands in their way.

A lot of hard work and long hours has gone into making this forum one of the best on the planet. I say let's keep it that way.

99.9% of those that post here or just log in to look around everyday have a kind heart and an open mind. That my friends is why I keep coming back.

Can a few muddy the waters for all of us? Yeah sure. But we spent BIG EVGA $$$$$'s and purchased the unit below for those issues. They will not only never see us, they will never hear us as well!!

Hey SBB.  Just so you know, this is a feature that we've discussed many times about removing, as it's too prone to abuse.  Just like a Windows Experience Index score tells you about your system configuration, this rating tells you next to nothing about the member and what sort of impact he/she has on the forums.

    Thanks for posting these changes.

That is simply one small part of a larger issue.  One thing that moderators have repeatedly asked is for people to debate ideas, thoughts, and analysis in threads.  The purpose of discussion is to analyze, discredit, and/or support the premise, logic, and conclusion of a member's post, not the member or the character of the member who made the post.  Members sometimes confuse that distinction, and this usually leads to personal attacks and trolling.  All we ask is that people spend more time concentrating on the actual debate, and not resort to personal attacks and off-topic posts in an attempt to score points.

Moderators that do engage in discussions do so as regular members.  If a moderator is taking part in a thread, another moderator will step in if an issue arises that requires moderation.  Moderators are held to a higher standard than members, with regards to the TOS.  If you feel that a moderator has stepped over that line, then please do pm/email Shane, as the TOS states.

One other thing for you guys to help with.  If you don't feel comfortable or want to take a few seconds to report a post for a BR, please mark a BR worthy post as helpful, in the post.  That way we also see threads where people feel that a member has helped them.

More BR's , Cool You do relize it takes 24 to get a case, and 3 1/2 cases, to get a keg.

Unfortunately, due to the economy, our BR's are about 1/2 the size of what they used to be.  Now a case is made up of 48 BR's.  We apologize for any confusion this may have caused.
