I've attempted serveral different settings but i cant get stable past 4ghz for some reason

Here are my specs

i7 875K
P55 FTW
Kingston HyperX 1600Mhz 888-24   2x2Gb
MSI NVIDIA 295GTX
WD caviar black 320gb 7200Rpm
Scyte Mugen 2
Silverstone Raven 2

Ive got a pretty good air cooled system, 4ghz gets my cpu to 64C with Intelburn on 8threads, max memory

Ive attempted  21x 200, with VCore increases upto 1.35V in BIOS but cant get it stable with Intelburn, not even with VTT on 1.425v

I Don't know the answer, but watch the Vtt Intel spec is 0.3 to 1.4 v

30x 133 seems to be working pretty stable, 30x 135 aswell, but had trouble at 30x 141.

For 21x200 you'll need more vcore.. 1,4v is no problem with a good air cooling.

    For 30x133 I need only 1,05V VTT..

but when u start to oc over BLCK - then it goes tricky.
    Whats up with 32x133?

Please post your complete settings, pwm frequencies, PLL & PCH etc.

What voltages does you recomend for 30x133?

    VTT=1.05v

    What others?

    Re:P55 FTW + 875K Settings help please Sunday, August 29, 2010 2:14 PM (permalink)
Sorry i was off for the weekend, now back in bussiness for some more OC'ing

    But i got some questions.

If i set my multiplier to 30 in BIOS to get 30x133/135, i always have to set my max multiplier in EVGA E-Leet aswell on every core to 30.

Also the Voltage control of my Vcore, when i set this in BIOS to, lets say 1.3v and then i load EVGA E-Leet and go to the Vcore control tap, it says
    +0.1250000V.
Now my question, is this 1.3v + 0.125v or is this the 1.3v i setted in my bios?

The readings of CPU-Z / E-Leet tells me some way higher voltage, but is this just becaus its not accurate, or becaus i really have to high voltages?

Il Post my full settings bit later, or if someone is willing to post me some settings for a 4.2-4.3Ghz on air with this setup, your welcome!

post your settings, and we will see.
There is no "ideal bios setup" ... for 4,2 GHz .. it always depends on the cpu quality.

I need for absolut stable 4 GHz 133x30 1,325 Vcore in Bios. This is in windows 1,34 - under load 1,32V.
Tested with prime (12h), linpack (50runs), some games and 12 Youtube vids at the same time.
But my watercooling system did not allow the cpu to get higher than 50°C on cores :D
And.. it's very important to know, that good cooled cpus need more Vcore than an air-cooled one. Why? Can't explain in english - but it "electric resistance" has someting to do with it . ;)

If you use E-Leet to find the max settings, set everything in BIOS on standard. No overclocking.. everything must be stock.
And then go to E-leet and tune .. test... tune ... etc.
then you'll  find the max oc-settings.
After finishing that, go to the bios and set the parameters which are stable in E-Leet there.

For 4480 MHz I need more Vcore, also more VTT then 1,05V.. but I can't build it at the moment stable.. my PSU is to small (620W).
Waiting for the new seasonics ;)

    sorry for my bad english..

Allright, here's some of my settings im using at the moment.

    32x Multiplier   133Mhz Bus speed
    QPI Link 2130 Mhz

    Memory :
    Dram Frequency 665.8 Mhz
    FSB:DRAM    2:10
    CL 8
    tRCD 8
    tRP 8
    tRAS 24

    PCIE 104 Mhz

    PCG Voltage 1.05V
    CPU PPL VCore 1.8V
    CPU VTT Voltage 1.05V
    DRAM Voltage 1.65V
VCore 1.35V (BIOS) + 0.13125V in E-Leet = 1.48V   (might be able to downtune this a bit, but was unstable on 0.0000V added
HT is ON, Turbo boost aswell obviously.

All this is according to E-LEET

im at 52333 3D mark Vantage CPU score at the moment

This is pretty much pushing my air cooler to its limits, 85°c on highest core  Intel Burn Test(Linx)

im wondering if i could go lower voltage if i maybe lower my multiplier and raise my BSCLK. any suggestions?

    VCore 1.35V (BIOS) + 0.13125V in E-Leet = 1.48V

have you C1E and C-Tech States C6 disabled?

Try it on the other way.
Find out a good BLCK.. like 150 or 160.. something like that. Try it with multi 22.
Look to it that youd don't have to push to much vcore,... search an efficient BLCK.

Do it only with bios - left e-leet for this time of testing.
Then, put the multi higher, step by step, vcore pushing, vtt pushing when instable.
Look every time on the temps. 85°C should be the max on cores (10% secure room)

    And set
CPU PWM to 847 or higher
other PWM to the highest 4xx
PCIE only to 100 under 200 BLCK. There is no need for "double-post". Disable GenGlock.

    Try it.

    I have them Disabled,

I was just doing what you suggested :)

26 x 160 seems pretty ok as same voltages as above.

altho this gives me lower Mhz, it do gives me better preformance in Vantage and 7.22 in Cinebench.

Ok - that means 1.35V Vcore or 1.48V Core?
    If only 1,35V needed, try 1,4 with 28x160.. :D

The oc with BLCK got more benefit in the benchmarks, yes.

Ive attempted 28 x160 but i wasnt able to get it stable, not even with givin 1.45v in Bios, and thats pretty much the max i want to give or my air cooler dies.

currently im trying to get a stable clock with 22x and playing with the BSCLK, 185 im on atm. seems stable with Intelburn,  71°C max temp

Here is 1 more point.  The Vtt should always be within 0.5 v of the DIMM (memory) voltage.  So, for your (and mine) 1.65 v on memory, we should have at least a 1.15 v on Vtt (mine is 1.2 v).  Also per Intel Vtt should be between 0.3 to 1.4 v.

What version is the standard Bios?
You've to use A70.. but I was wondering if you have an other version..
because, only the A70 enables the "K" Functions.. or?

Came home from the store today, my screen on idle, C0 error on my motherboard, CPU broken, altho i only had a 4.05ghz OC running at that time. with no to high temps at all ( was on idle aswell)

anyway got new 875K from the store, lets see how this one clocks ^^
