Hey guys, so I just got a new build and I have run into some issues. I installed Win 7 Pro with no issues at all (using SATA 2.0 so I can install 3.0 drivers). The Ethernet worked fine. After I updated all the drivers, not only does the Ethernet not work SATA 3.0 does not work. I have tried rolling back and re-installs to no avail.
Should I start a fresh and skip the particular Ethernet driver update, and retry the SATA 3.0? Anything would help, Thanks.

    Hello Remoyen!

Now when you say you updated the drivers are you talking about you picking them out through the forums or a CD or through windows 7 Update?

Lets start from there so we know where we can go next!

    Hey basicallyevolve,

The main drivers are from the EVGA CD that came with the Motherboard and Graphics card. Then the SATA 3 is from the EVGA website (but I could not get that to work), so I used the SATA 3 with the CD. Then Windows did its basic update for security.

    Thanks!

I would say download all the appropriate drivers from EVGAs website and start from there.  They keep an up to date Driver set on their site and it should work. What you are describing was an old problem with a driver issue that would cause the network driver to fail on our boards.

Just make sure you pick up network drivers from the EVGA site and if it does ineed fail.. start over again to see if you can driver sweep the old drivers to get on the net again. If you are able to get on the Internet without having to install any drivers ( using windows 7 native drivers) dont even bother trying to install any network drivers.

Just get rid of the drivers you installed for Sata 3 and your Ethernet with driver sweep or something and restart your computer so Windows 7 can do its thing for you!

When you install Windows 7 for the first time it should automatically have a preset driver fr it and let your Ethernet drivers work. It isnt worth the headache to try and find a driver that works if you are running into issues like this unless the native drivers are giving you issues too :P.

I think the Native Drivers should be more than enough honestly

I might have mushed everything up in those sentences so if anything is unclear please let me know and i will do my best to re explain everything to help you =)

Just to try to sum up what you said in steps:

    - Download EVGA Drivers and try to see if this fixes the issue.
      If True - All set
If False - Use Driver Sweep to clean the drives.
                  - Restart and let Win 7 do its process to see if that fixes things.
                   If True - All Set
If False - Re-install Win 7 and skip out on installing the Network driver.
     Then - All good.

Should I download the SATA 3.0 drives install those via BIOS as well as update the BIOS if I do a reinstall, or should I do this regardless?

    Bingo =)

But i dont think you would have to reinstall windows 7 but if worst comes to worst you could.

As far as the Sata 3 goes i am not too sure. Never tried it myself . I would say for that one just see if you can get the network to work and try the Sata 3 drivers. I dont think there should be a conflicting issue between those drivers. If the bios is not up to date you should probably update it for sure as it could solve your problems as well

Sorry to have taken so long, I was at work. Then after getting home I tried the steps. So far reinstalling the driver does not work. Using Driver Sweeper does not work. I am hoping after this safe mode boot that it will work with windows 7 doing magic. The bios update was successful as far as I know, my first time fyi. However the tutorial of using a USB drive to do so worked wonders.

EDIT: Windows 7 Pro Re-install did not fix the issue with ethernet not working. It worked before a driver update so I doubt the board randomly died in that particular spot =/

EDIT: Nothing has been done to the PC. I watched boot up. The network port lights up and shows it is connected and working, however when the system get to "Starting Windows" it shuts off and then will not work thereafter.

EDIT: Adjusted Ethernet cable...bam internet, windows 7 did security updates. I rebooted, did not work again, been swapping cables and trying to see if i can re-enact that feat. The cable goes in fine and sits snug in the port, like I said it registers during boot up then stops.

dont let Windows 7 update your drivers. Make sure when you get in to turn off automatic updates. That is the problem. A while back there was a Driver from Windows 7 that was causing this issue

I changed to my most expensive Ethernet cord, it worked. It seems to be the only cord that works post Boot, and in the "main OS" I guess. Should I attempt to install the Nvidia/Evga drivers (even the network one) to see what the real issue was...driver or cost of ethernet cord XD

EDIT: As a note, I am completely baffled at this issue. This cord that works now with out a hitch did not work yesterday but the "green" as I call it did, now its visa verse.  As an extended note, I did try this cable before I did a Win 7 Re-install today, it did not work.

EDIT: All drivers installed excepts the Network, works fine. The only thing that does not work is the SATA 3.0. It detects it and I have the drivers installed, maybe all I need is the firmware? But there is no explanation how to do it, such as via BIOS or Win 7.
