Alright just put together my new machine
X58 FTW3
Xeon W3570
12 Gigs (3x4GB) G.Skill DDR3 1600 CL 9-9-9-24
1 - Evga GTX 460
My question is, is the RAM running at the correct speed (1600)?

Thanks

Yes, it's DDR memory (Double Data Rate) what you are seeing is the actual clock speed of the memory which is roughly 800Mhz. But since DDR memory transmits data 2 times per clock, that effectively doubles your memory speed to 1600Mhz on a single clock rate transmission. It's really just marketing nonsense since people like to see big numbers, that it's called 1600Mhz memory when in fact it's 800Mhz memory that transmits data twice.

    Core i7 3770K // R9 Fury + Eyefinity // EVGA Z77 FTW // 8GB (2x4GB) G.Skill 1600Mhz DDR3 // Ultra X3 1000w PSU
