idk what's going on here.
i don't really know if it's my graphics card (i don't think so) or the drivers.
i ran occt, furmark, unigine heaven, 3dmark 06 and 3dmark vantage without problems.
i did have problems on unigine heaven but that was related to the program itself (installation) and reinstallation fixed it.
no errors on occt with occt test and vram test with 100 passes.
furmark max temp at 1920x1080 full screen and xtreme burn was 75c with fan set at 75%.
3dmark06 and 3dmarkvantage ran great. i even overclocked card to FTW speed and ran great.
how i got BSOD:
after i ran 3dmarkvantage i send my score to futuremark ORb and then checked my other scores.
after that i opened evga precision and i clicked on the reset button to reset fan speed and FTw clocks that i had.
after i press reset i got a BSOD with the known nvlddmkm.sys describing the BSOD.
so is this a driver related situation??
why i didn't get that while running benchmarks??
i just hit reset and it happened.
i will reinstall driver the safe way and check again.
i didn reinstalled drivers last time the safe way.
should i disable the nvidia high definition soun thing on the manager??
i've seen people with problems and disable it solve it.
any solutions or comments welcomed.
thanks

Follow this guide to reinstall correctly and if you dont use sound over hdmi follow the instructions to permanently disable them

ok so i just reinstalled drivers using the safe method from evga of curse.
now i still have the nvidia high definition sound devices.
so what i did was disable it using the method on the 400 series sticky until nvidia comes with new drivers so we don't ahve to install the high definition sound from nvidia if we dont use it.
thanks for the comment. i was gonna do that but i remind me of disabling the hdmi sound on that threat.
    thank you

I believe the 260 beta driver lets you choose what drivers you install. If redoing the drivers dont work post back and well dig deeper to find the problem

    Re:driver BSOD!!! 2010/10/06 17:20:57 (permalink)
    ok it happened again.
    but on the same program.
    i ran 3dmarkvantageon stock settings.
then i raised card speed to FTW settings on evga precision.
i ran 3dmarkvantage again without any problems DURING de benchmark. after the benchmark finished (got good score) i closed 3dmarkvantage  without any problems and then i opened evga precision (2.0.0) and i clicked on the reset button to reset everything back to stock settings and the fan to the normal 40% and then i got the BSOD again.
whenever i overclock and after im done i try ti reset using evga precision and it gave me BSOD.
i think is driver related since i don't get any erros or something on occt, furmark, 3dmark vantage and 06.
only when i tried to reset.
    why??
should i install the BETA drivers??
    thank you.

ok now im testing with evga oc scanner for artifcts or problems on both. stock settings and FTW settings. maybe it was too much overclock for my card. i dont think os since it worked on all those benchmarks but i got BSOD on that program so it may be driver related.
i'll do this and let you know.
i think i will try reinstalling using the nvidia BETA drivers and the safe method to install them.
    thanks

No need to freak out bro
It just a problem with resetting your OC and Precision... your probably not letting all the Vantage processes close. Either that, or your videocard temps are still to high when you reset defaults. Never drop fan speeds or shut off your computer untill videocard temps are below about 55c. (personally I wait till they are below 45c)
-->No need to change or re-install Nvidia drivers, just reboot and you will be fine.

There is nothing wrong with your card or the Nvidia drivers

    Re:driver BSOD!!! 2010/10/06 18:02:16 (permalink)
i think it's a problem with the dirvers. i tested card with evga oc scanner and got no erros, artifact in both stock settings and FTW settings to check overclock. i got this problem of resseting evga precision and the BSOD when the card was about 45c-50c. (max temp running bench was 70c and because i had fan speed high it lowered temps fast after closing benchmark)
after i finished testing i went to futuremark to check my currently score of vantage and compare other scores. then i closed program and i enabled anti-virus and other stuff i disabled to do the benchmarking with vantage. finally i clicked on the reset button on evga precision and boom!! BSOD.
i think is driver related since people are having problems with them. thats why nvidia released this beta version with user control of installation.
i will install beta drivers and report back.
thank you for the help guys.

Instead of pressing reset what happens if you lower them back manually. It might just be an issue with resetting the cards not the driver or cards themselves

maybe is not a driver issue. maybe you're right.
i will try just to put them manually and check for erros or something else.
i ran evga oc scanner 4 times.
1.full screen 1920x1080 check for artifacts with power drawn stock clocks
2.full screen 1920x1080 benchmar with power drawn stock clocks
3.full screen 1920x1080 check for artifacts  with power drawn FTW clocks
4.full screen 1920x1080 benchmark with power drawn  FTW clocks.
on all the test i didn't get any erros, artifacts or freezes.
after all the test i closed or leaved evga oc scanner and hit the reset button to put everything on stock and i had no BSOD's
maybe is related on what you're saying great_shovel.
i will install the beta drivers to check them.
should i just install beta drivers and use the nvidia thing that sweep older drivers??
or should i use the safe mode and driversweeper method from evga stickies??
    thanks

I would recommend going through the whole process of safe mode, driver sweeper and everything. I have read that the beta is supposed to clear it out but I dont know how well that works yet. adn yea it might just be that something is still trying to use the graphics card so when you hit reset it doesnt like that

ok thanks for the help great shovel.
    i'll do both methods.
the driver sweeper method on safe mode and also the moethod on the new nvidia driver.
i may test 3dmark vantage again and try to reet settings on evga precision manually after overclocking.
i did overclock on evga oc scanner and resetted it and nothing happened. maybe something between those 2.
i will not install nvidia sorround drivers and maybe 3d driver since im not using those.
    thanks for the help.
i only had those problems but while gaming, testing for erros in occt, furmark or oc scanner i didn't have any errors or BSOD's on stock and FTW clocks.
on benchmarks i didn't have problems either. maybe the programs have minor bugs or errors. on heaven benchmark i fix it by reinstalling and i dont have that problem anymore.
3dmark vantage and 06 work without problems and no errors or freezes while gaming.
hope nvidia release new WQHL drivers soon.
    thank you for the help.

Glad to be of help. Just wondering are you running any other monitoring utilities such as hwmonitor or eleet? If so sometimes those mess w precision if theyre open at the same time so that might be the issue as well.

no i was only using precision.
in fact i turned the anti-virus off so that i would get a high score in 3dmark vantage. even precision was not opened while runing vantage. i just run vantage with everything closed (some background programs also) and then when it's finished i turn everything back again and i reset precision to get stock clocks again.

Ah ok. Then yea it was probably that something was still running when you would reset or there was some kind of conflict. How long would you wait after 3dmark was done before hitting reset

normally it was like 10-15 seconda after closing 3dmark vantage since i was checking score and enabling the anti-virus.
i didn't any background program so maybe a evga precision error or conflict with the drivers.
i ddi overclocked card to test other benchmarks like occt and evga oc scanner and i hit reset to test it out and didn't have any problems.
    maybe some kind of conflict.
i even got a good score while benchmarking on evga oc scanner.

I bet you that was the problem. Next time wait 30 seconds or more before resetting. And now im very curious what did u get as your 3dmarkvantage score?

my score on 3dmarkvantage was 18320 or something like that. i don't remember. it was 100 or 200 above 18k.
looks like a good score right??
on 3dmark06 i got 18k also but with overclocked cpu i get like 23-24k.
thanks for the help. i requested a blue ribbon for your help here. i hope you get it.
    thanks

Well thank you. Apparently we both got blue ribbons. And Im not sure what the 460's get on vantage but that does seem like a pretty good score. If it starts acting up again let me know and ill try to find out more

    ok.
thank you very much for your help.
i'll install the beta drivers and i'll test the card again.
also i will wait up to 30 secs before resetting. maybe that's an issue.
    thanks.

    great_shovel i got news!!
    good news!!
i uninstalled 258.96 drivers and then updated to 260.63 using driver sweeper in safe mode and also unsing the nvidia cleaning option.
i didn't install the HD NVIDIA sound and 3D driver from nvidia.
these new drivers did the trick!!!
now i don't get errors in unigine heaven benchmark.
3dmark06 and vantage got a increase score of 1-2k
i went from 17k gpu overclocked to 20k gpu overclocked with these!!
now after closing 3dmarkvantage or 3dmark06 i check scores and then imediatelly reset all clocks to stock using the reset button and i don't get any BSOD or errors or freezes. working like a charm!!!
in fact, i tested with these drivers and 3dmark vantage like 4-6 times with and without overclocks on both gpu and cpu.
    NO PROBLEMS!!!!
thank you for the help. i'll update with some future info on this.
    thank great_sholve.
    u earned that BR
