Well. looks like I belong to the "High voltage club". Been trying for 2 days to get my voltages down with NO luck at all.Guess we will have to see what happens, although my temps are really good in my book. The P.C. really is snappy too. Thought of returning my chip to Microcenter, but may just get the same results.

Okay so I really hate Prime95 for stability so I have been searching trying to find a linpack somwhere that will work with the 980x and mabey on to somthing but its in an smp format with very few instructions but it was registering my proc with hyperthreding at 76G flops (while LinX is showing 100% cpu usage with around 56 Gflops at same proc speed) but I noticed it was only using about 50% of proc for most of the test so I am not sure if there are any settings I am putting in wrong thought I would post it here and see if anyone out there (hopefully with some more programing or basic computer knowledge than me) could help me play with this and see if we can get something working for the 980x with 12 threads one thing I'm noticing is it is showing 12 cpus and 12 threads wondering if it should be showing 6 cpus and 12 threads to utilize 100% cpu it will use 100% to load and unload the problem but only 50% while actually computing the problem here is a link to the download page of what I am playing with http://software.intel.com/en-us/articles/intel-math-kernel-library-linpack-download/ and here is a screenie of it running http://img72.imageshack.us/img72/204/linpack.jpg

sgtharry Mine won't even POST with 1.9 Cpu Pll setting. I tried last night just to see if it helped any. It did not make 1 pass in Linx and was the only thing that was changed in my 24/7 Template. Put it back to 1.65 Cpu Pll and all is good.

So, you actually lowered yours to 1.65, and it helped? To be honest, i'm not too worried about my voltage settings. But will try lowering it.

You guys running really low Vtt, have you been paying attention to how it affects GFlops?? I'm using +175 right now, and I can run +150 and still be stable as a rock, but I saw that my GFlops decreased quite a bit. When I went back to +175, GFlops went back up. Anyone else notice this?

Just curious, are you guys just using LinX for stability testing? If so, how is it working for you in everyday computing. I don't know if I'm going about this wrong, but compare LinX and Prime small FFT's temps. Prime is about 5c to 10c higher then LinX. I would think more heat, the more beating the CPU is taking.

gosmeyer Gov, you still on 51? Yes and it's been good so far. This chip seems golden and I might have to put off car mods for another year and buy another, but I'd probably go to Xeons and SR-2 in that case.

How high are you going to push it or are you staying at 4.0 Ghz. Which rig did your Intel ssd go in?

Well sgtharry it looks like you and I both have the same curse. I have tried every template in this thread and non of them have worked for me. The only template that I can get to work for my system is yours... lol. I have always had a problem with voltages even dating back to my i7 920 D0 so I am sure it isnt your chip. I cant boot into Windows with 4.5Ghz unless I am above 1.55 Vcore. If you figure out what is causing this please let me know. I am now down and extra $400 having upgraded to a Dominator GT 2000mhz kit and that didn't solve my problem either.
