Brief background:  There are two positions that people have regarding how we participate in Chimp Challenge each year.

One position is to leave things as they have been since the beginning of Chimp Challenge whereby you change your Rig(s) over to the EVGApes name.  A configuration change is required (beginning and end of the contest) and all your points are assigned to that name for the 10-day duration of Chimp Challenge.

The other position is to participate in CC without switching your Rig(s) over to a single Team name such as "EVGApes".  No configuration changes are required and your points remain under your Folding Name for the 10-day duration of the contest.

Would you prefer to continue the existing method of participation by Folding under the EVGApes name?

Would you prefer to change the way we participate in CC and Fold under your own Name?

Was my vote as well.  If I decide to drag my hardware to the party, I'd rather be able to keep track of my personal contributions.

How is that tracked as far as points for team EVGA? Instead of EVGApes it will be under [link=mailto:F@h]F@h[/link] EVGA? I prefer we stay with the traditional name, just because that's what we have done in the past.

I read Madrias' post differently - simply that he wanted to be able to keep track of what he was submitting.  They all go to the team anyway.
The solution to what I think Madrias' issue is, is to use your own passkey with EVGApes userid.  That way you can fold under the EVGApes userid and yet track your own points (though a little more cumbersome than not changing names at all).

I dunno...without changing the name it kind of loses that organized/special feel to me. I like the fact that people have to actively choose to participate in the CC and it doesn't just go off who happens to fold under a certain team number.

If it is decided not to change the name and we add all these handicaps/tiers/categories it's not really the CC anymore. Might as well call it something different and be done with it.

    For what it is worth...

As a team gets bigger and bigger... It becomes harder and harder to get the "Majority" involved.

The CC "Contest" is based off of those that change to the EVGApes. Those that do not, does not count.

So a smaller team can reach "Most" of their audience, we cannot as not everyone logs in. Just look at how few responses we have in 24 hours of this poll as an example. Out of 1400+ members that specifically fold?

Yet we are measured (This may change) by our "Team EVGA" stats. And why we lost so badly last year in the "Contest" portion. We never had a chance to be competitive.

Anyway... I do like helping a team and am happy with what we decide. I am on the side of the "Entire" team is measured because they "ALL" matter to me.

I simply do not see why there "has" to be an outright winner. Smaller teams will find a way to ensure "we" are not it if that's the contest goal. Last year proves that. This year will be no different and if an overall winner needs to be the "end result", we should be as smart as [H] and refrain. It's not like folding will be any less for refraining. Just won't be wasted in an attempt to prove that volume folding is a worthless effort. JIMO

NO contest winning team Period. Categories and/or "qualities of contest" awards to sport for participating in a worthy cause across teams. No declared winner..... repeat as required, would much better represent the intent of the challenge... JIMO... YMMV

Good points. For me.... If We end up with a fold for yourself and a program adds it up... Not a team effort to me. I hate FAH/PG CPU projects (why I crunch) might, probably... OK would do this in a TEAM effort. Give up any points to Our APES. Why all of a sudden is the fold under my "folding name" so important? I think it should be about "how much you care about your team" and what you will let go from your/ones statistics to prove it.
Is science "less done" if it's not reflected under a team user stat??????????????
EDIT: brought everything I could run back to try to get this arm to the 800 mark last month. Lost 4 places on my crunching team. Long road back. My point is... If we're not willing to sacrifice for a "proclaimed Team effort", how does Team enter the effort?

My thoughts exactly.  I was thinking rename it to what it will become: "Lets All Pay Closer Attention to Team Stats for Ten Days!"  or LAP CATS TD for short!

Where do I find the up arrow keys on my keyboard? I'd like to use them here...
    Thanks Troy and I agree.
CC was about willingness to lose personally a bit in order to attempt to make a larger selfless team effort. I simply feel that there is more than enough "me" team stuff (sports) going on outside of the folding/crunching (whatever donating) community/s. Felt really to have a chance to prove (to myself if noone else) that I could be different if at least for a short while.
I know that we all do selfless donor stuff all the time. This stuff ain't cheap at any level, but we all from time to time get caught up in the competitive end of this. At least once a year, I can do what I do and not any gain for me. I'd really miss that if it changed. Kinda a sobering reality check to why I've been doing this with my stuff for so long.... nutin' for me. I'll switch and fold under that if available regardless of need to.

What would be the implications of changing the way we participate in the CC by folding under our own names? This information should be added to the original post.

All great feedback folks. Keep in mind this is just a poll. And everyone is welcome to voice their thoughts.

The good thing about a poll... You see what the majority thinks...

At the end of the day this is still only here "IF" there is a call for a vote on it with the CC Captains. Other than that it is only food for thoughts as we can then no longer "Assume" what the team majority thinks.

folding under your own name would be best. cause when people change over to evgapes chances are some will mistype it and we would have a bunch of random evgapes names on EOC

Exactly, Nite.  One of the reasons I voted we keep our names is so that we don't have to do configuration changes.  And shdbcamping, why so hostile?  I keep track of my points because every point in that mess happens to be a point gained in my pursuit to cure cancer.

Now, look at it this way: if I was all about me and not the team, why the hell would I switch to a smaller team where I'm likely not to be first, why would I give up the prestige of being on the #1 team?  Here's why:  Because people keep attacking me.  So I said "Fine, you want to attack, then guess what, I'm packing my bags and taking my fun elsewhere."
