*Please note there is a newer model called the X-Cruiser2, it appears to be same as the original, just with an updated front.* *Please note all images are from apevia.com, I can't post pictures of my case due to it being heavily modded* Product Website: apevia.com X-Cruiser on Amazon: amazon.com Video Reviews: N/A In-depth Written Reviews: the following review is, in my opinion, very "misguided" and from 2006 so take it with a grain of salt techpowerup.com Prior Case Experience: NZXT GAMMA, NZXT LEXA, NZXT Phantom The Good: Temperature, VU, and Fan speed gauges are nice. The amount of color variation is impressive, the LEDs look good. The Bad: Aesthetics: The front is a large piece of plastic, that feels cheap and looks ugly, the silver on the front is very cheap looking. The back and inside are plain metal, which is really ugly. HDDs/CD drive bays: They don't use screwless design which is annoying considering the GAMMA, which is cheaper, uses a very nice screwless design for the HDDs. Additionally the metal feels cheap and if you have a large graphics card you may run into room limitations. Motherboard, Cable management, PSU mounting: the motherboard is flimsy, on my model the mobo tray flexes a lot. Cable management is a joke. The GAMMA has a much better system, mostly because there is more room behind the mobo tray and because it's not as open as the X-Cruiser. The PSU mounts at the top of the case, which is fine even if it's going out of style, The problem is there isn't much support for it so it puts a lot of stress on the rear screws. Also if you have a fan in top/bottom of the PSU then you'll be pulling air off the hot CPU into the PSU, thus heating it up. Build quality: Not very good. The case feels like it was made for $10, yet sells for $65-$114. Everything on the case feels flimsy, the plastics, the metal forming the outside, the HDD and CD drives, and especially the mobo tray. The Verdict: In a case this expensive, Amazon has it listed for $75, I expected a lot more. It looks and feels like a budget case, yet has a price tag that's twice that of the GAMMA and close to twice the cost of the HAF 912. Simply put this case is dreadful, overpriced, poorly made, and ugly. It should be noted that Apevia has a newer model of the X-Cruiser called the X-Cruiser2 which looks just as bad. I looked at a few other Apevia cases and they all look cheap and overpriced. Final score 1/10 and that's being nice.
