The only thing i havent tried is changing the cmos battery but my bios isnt loosing any settings/time date ect so dont think that would be the fault.

I suppose i'll just have to wait until EVGA look at my support ticket and go from there.  Just hope it doesnt need an RMA as the board and CPU are watercooled :(

I wonder if there could be a problem with compatibility between the mobo and Windows 7.  Microsoft issued a hotfix for people having problems with USB ports failing that had more than 4gb of memory and the nvidia chipset.

http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7itprohardware/thread/38f25c1d-de67-4c74-8845-2cd3a15d8e41

Just throwing that out there, but I'm still convinced it hardware--a bad chip.

Doesn't the x58 series boards use Intel chipsets, not Nvidia?

Yes, I was just saying if there were similar issues with the nvidia chipset maybe they also exist with this one or perhaps win 7 just sucks.  Just throwing that out there.

Reading some of the symptoms people were experiencing with the nvidia chipset they sound very similar to what I'm having.

hmmm found something interesting:

http://forums.logitech.com/t5/G-Series-Keyboards/G19-Key-Buffer-Over-Run/td-p/335720/page/34

EHCI handoff maybe the issue with the usb dropouts.  Also i dont know if this may affect audio as i know some users are also experiencing audio issues.

Be nice if EVGA could implement this into a new bios as according to logitech the feature is not needed in vista or windows 7.

Now this thread from logitech is mainly about getting into bios's ect but im guessing if the buffers overun then it could also cause issues/dropouts as i believe if the usb ports do not receive communication every XXms then this would cause the device to dropout.

Please EVGA get involved and enlighten us to your thoughts.

This issue was only present when I was using the sz2z bios on my e758a1.  Once I rolled back to 2z2x the issue stopped.

Governator, I don't have 2 of the 8-pin power connectors on my E758 motherboard. I also do not have some of the BIOS settings that you mention (SZ2Z BIOS). I do have the USB Operation Mode set to High Speed. I do not have a USB Selective Suspend Setting.

Last Thursday evening, I called EVGA and requested an RMA. They said they would review my request and let me know within 2 business days as to whether they would grant me an RMA.

Over the weekend I replaced the CR2032 BIOS back-up battery, re-installed the SZ2Z BIOS, and set-up all my BIOS Profiles. It didn't make any difference.

This morning I received the email that EVGA has approved my RMA.

weird, only drop out i've had is when i  wake up my computer, keyboard works fine, but mouse is no longer recognized, sometimes i have to replug it, sometimes it eventually gets recognized i also overclocked the port in which the mouse is plugged into, while the other mouse i usually have connected to the pc works fine right at wakeup

Ack! I've had the exact same problems happen - plug in a new USB device and the entire damn bus goes on holiday, taking my mouse and keyboard with it. IN order to get things working again, I have to remote in from another computer, shut everything down, and restart. I also sometimes have to turn off the power at the PSU and turn it back on before I can get things working again. Highly frustrating.

Had my E760 Classified for 4 days and on the 4th day when watching a movie the keyboard and mouse just turned off. Then unplugged replugged in and Windows said cannot recognize devices when they just worked then I tried on my laptop they ran fine. I contacted EVGA went through a bunch of diagnostics and now im in the RMA process for a new motherboard

yes sireee ive had 3.....now 4 yes 4 of the e760's finally i disabled usb selective suspend on the 3rd one in hopes of resolving the issue which helps slow down the lockups i was having. this didnt fix it either. ive trown SOOOO much money at the problem including a new hx1000 psu with no resolve. evga has had me with a good 5 techs and not a one figured out the issue and what is causing it. of course evga seems to deny ANY issue with theyre mobo's...of course. im now in yes ANOTHER 4th rma on the e760. evga seems to say its a flaky usb controller on that paticular series mobo's. yeah nice a 400 dollar plus mobo that quits working because of a faulty usb controller. sad. very very sad. needless to say once i get a new mobo (which will be the next time this mobo fails) i wont ever get another evga thats for sure. maybe a bad experince on my part but when 5 diff evga techs cant figure out why this is happening and ive replaced dang near EVERYTHING in my computer case that dont say much for the quality of theyre mobo's needless to say im finished with evga mobos theyre video cards are.....ok i had to replace 2 of those 2 of them were doa when i got them from evga rma replacements!!! but yeah you could say ive had a slight issue with the usb on my e760 mobo i truly wish all here good luck with theyre usb issue but evga even said its a flaky usb controller. im switching back to asus or gigabit after this next mobo fails...not if it fails but, when.

That doesn't sound encouraging.  This is my first evga mobo.  Im regretting it now. This is my first mobo with any problems ever.  I always used asus before but someone convinced me to use evga because of their "unsurpassed customer support".

well i will say theyre customer service is VERY good always very helpful. if theyre motherboards were as good as theyre customer service theyd never have to replace a mobo..........lol if you get a good mobo be very thankfull. also on the front of getting remaned mobo i belive if you buy a new mobo you SHOULD get a new one back. they nor anyone else does either. evga WILL issue a new mobo if inside of the first 30 days. if they dont want to issue a new mobo they should have better q.a. so that the mobo never go out in the first place OR have a low failure rate. its a good thing they offer a limtime warraty on the mobo's casue i garantee youll be using it every 3-6 months with a evga board...........theyre mobos are nothing but a royal expensive headache! and they make YOU pay to ship both ways when its mobos issue casuing it fail in the first place. theyre video card are for the most part rock solid but if you want the same in a mobo try a gigabyte or a asus.....acutally anything but evga. sorry to hear about your purchase. if they ever decide to fix the usb controller on the mobo's they will have a rock solid mobo, but, i honestly dont see that happening.

So you guys are all using Logitech stuff?

Perhaps there's an issue/incompatability going on.

I have 0 Logitech things (except a half broken VX wireless mouse that has generic MS drivers, which I use to control my computer from farther away on occasion)

I doubt it has anything to do with the keyboard.  Mine was running fine for 6 months then without changing a thing on my computer all of the sudden the USB ports started repeatedly failing.  Its more likely a chip decided to go bad.

Yea I have a USB Logi mx510 mouse. I havent had the issue for about one week. I unplugged the external hard drive that I had plugged in and it seems to have stopped screwing up my mouse. Not really sure why or how but it appears to be working thus far as I have not had a drop since I unplugged the thing.

nothing to do with "brand" of mouse or keyboard. its happened to me with a generic kb and mouse. microsoft, logitech dont seem to matter what brand the issue is with a terrible usb controller on the mobo.  again this is a SAAAAD matter 400$ mobo with a .50 part failure about every 6 months maybe 3 months. it dont matter what nor how many usb devices plugged in. i have used only a generic usb kb and mouse  only and still had the lockups and dropouts. i am currently out of town but, heard the 4th mobo just came in today.....yaaaayyyy. i give it 3 months. i also rma'd the hx 1000 corsair psu soo once it gets in ill give the 4th mobo a whirl. again 6 months MAX! after this literally the only thing i havent replaced would be the core i7 920 which is @ stock settings with stillyet lockups for a simple .50 part failure. SAAAAAD!!! once ...not if it fails but , when it fails im going to gigbyte or asus. i had one asus and "upgraded" i use that phrase carefully should be "Downgraded" to the e760. if anyone here has any questions just hit me up and we can discuss the pos mobo called the "classified"........lol

Well I just got rid of an asus mb and went with this e758a1.  The asus had its share of problems too and right now evga just about has the best customer service period so don't be too hasty to jump ship.  Try getting ahold of an asus tech and see how many days it takes for them to respond to you.

I didn't have any problems for about 48 hours.  The the USB ports crashed when I took a dvd out of the drive (the drive isn't usb).

I was only referencing the Classy boards with respect to the dual 8-pin 12v plugs, not the X58 E758 and also those weren't BIOS settings but rather I was referring to the "Power Options" under Vista/Win7 from within Control panel. I've since edited my original response, sorry for any confusion.

Its USB selective suspend.  I disabled that in the control panel and it reduced the number of times my USB ports lock up.  Whereas before they locked up every two minutes, now they lock up once or twice a day.
