I remember BWM was using some sort of code that would get only certain -bigadv wu's or it wouldn't refuse the low ppd wu's, can't remember exactly what the wife said and her post got deleted. So it can be done, she admitted to it and it's not mystical.

They used a script that would query what sever they were being assigned to and drop the connection if it was not the -bigadv server.  I think they custom made this themselves as i've never seen it mentioned on any of the top teams.  OH and BTW BWM are no longer folding, proves what they were in it for

Hum, I remember the wife said something about checking the wu's before it got assigned to them. So they never got the low PPD wu back then, what was it 2684 or something like that?

Also I was just pointing out that things have been done in the past to manipulate what wu's a system will receive. To say it can not happen today and call it mystical is a stretch.

Not sure if it was 2684 or normal A3 SMP, this was back when A3 ran both SMP and -bigadv so probably a combination of both

Not saying its mystical and can't happen, just pointing out that the "core hack" is posted abut on several forums, as is using the Kraken affinity script and the Langouste uploader.  I've not seen anything mentioned about a "server choosing" script

Seriously, you guys don't need to feel bad or wonder why it's happening, it's just because we've out hardwared you guys for the moment. No need to cause any fighting amongst your team mates here about this reason or that, because they are all moot (especially the crunching one, btw) for their own reasons, and at the end of the day he with the most and fastest hardware wins, too simple.

You guys led us on a hell of a run for first place a while ago when you had the hardware advantage (GPU's were huge back then), now we have the ball and were running with it. Just the nature of the beast really. I hope you guys can quit fighting amongst yourselves, as well as get this stupid core hack notion out of your minds, and hopefully we can both have a clean and classy run to the finish.

And like someone said a while back, what's so wrong with being #2? Yall act like it's the end of the world. It didnt end us (look at the charts for goodness sake lol), it sure as hell aint gonna end you guys if you don't let it. And you shouldnt, we need you guys, youre like the only team left that can put up an effort against us if need be, as much as we talk crap about each other we both need that, because there are no other running partners lol

Fold on and good luck!

Amen, fellow folder/cruncher/whatever, Amen.
I've been trying to make the same point. BTW, congrats to y'all at [H] and thanks for the 'wake up call'. I never bought into the "cheating" excuse. We (EVGA) can either make a case to PG 'en-masse' or suffer their choices they made that have caused this, JIMO. Enough with excuses. Like Yoda said... "do, or do not... no try!". PG is also losing in the end as well, I'm sure. Small contribution folders are the easiest to leave.... they shouldn't feel they need to.

I was just saying things can be done. As for the "core hack" I'm not up to speed on what exactly it is, but from what I gather it fools the server into thinking you have a 16+ core cpu so you get the higher point producing wu's? Heck wasn't there people doing that with AMD 6 core cpu's to get -bigadv wu's a while back?

Not sure on that as I thought it was supposed to be hard to meet the deadline on those wu's even with a 24 core system?

Hmmm... I'm wondering now how long it would take me to actually build a 4P system, finance it, learn Linux etc.  I do so love a challenge.  Got to win the lottery!  (I know where I'd dump some bucks into!)

Yeah [H] has the hardware for sure, no denying that, but our PPD has fallen drastically too.

The Core hack is the script that was being used by x6 and 2500/2600k users to fool the servers into thinking they could run 6900/01/03/04 WU.  Not sure that anyone has used since 8101 came out as the deadlines are so short you are well into high end 2p or 4p territory in order to finish them in time.  I'd say it is redundant now for the new WU - the short deadlines mean that even some 16 and 24 thread machines can't process them in time.

MY hex I7's would make it easilly. 4.2 with overhead. Not sure why this is about the 4/8 core I7's, but hey, whatev? Haven't had any exposure to the 81XX's but, how much can those 16 thread machines that "barely" make it OC? Better question... What are the projects intended to cure? If it's FLU, then I would not be interested anyway. lol.
Edit: At all............. 40% drop for GPU production with PG's benching of the 764X WU's.............. EVGA is GPU heavy. PG fixes that pitfall and we are Gaming with the [H]orde again

well Im for sure not giving up
more gpu's coming and a server rig after that
Im sure people here are waiting for kepler cores to fold on, then we might see a boost again

and Like I said "grow the team" with the CC and the boinc Pentathalon...we need as much growth as we can get

if we grow both teams it will be a benefit to us...
All I ask is that everyone goes out and bring in new members

That's a great idea, but ATM I am running real short on belief in PG/FAH. I find it morally difficult to go out and ensnare folk for any effort that I'm not 100% behind. Meaning PG... not EVGA folding.
Maybe someone on EVGA end should contact and voice a bit of displeasure with their (PG) decisions of late. possibly mention to VJ. that it's costing them and the fact that if it continues they might reconsider where they would move their incentive to????

Just saying that if the incentive went to EVGA crunching, I'm sure that most of our 'part-time' folders would probably go there as well........

AFAIK, a single hex even above 4ghz won't finish a 8101 with it's 2.4 day deadline. Now if the rig can finish a 6903 in under 2.4 (both these WU have very similar TPF) it could make it.

There is a drop in both GPU (from what I hear, not very familiar) and -bigadv points currently. The only thing that has not been affected much is good 'ol SMP.

It doesn't matter.... these things always flow back and forth.

Answered a bit, thnx. So, 4.what would make it?????????????? And what would PPD be compared to a vanilla SMP? You are dodging the issue. Purposely, or are you saying that [H] can't figure this one out. lol. Also, who knows what research those projects are combatting? Do you even care? Could be shipping your cores to terrorists hacking DoD? Maybe it's just me, but PG is getting a LOT less "transparent" with what they are doing, JIMO. YMMV.

No they wouldn't.  The minimum to complete 8101 is dual hex x5650 xeon's at 2.66 + turbo, even mine and punchy's x5670 dually's only have 10 hours to spare before deadline.  Low end true 16 cores from AMD are out as well, Dual 8 core opterons at 2.4 are needed

Checking recent actuals from my 980X Rig @4GHz, 6903's (which I still work every week) complete in 3.14 days.  So, it's not gonna complete the 8101 on time.  But thankfully (from what I can tell) Stanford won't send me an 8101 because I'm presenting 12 threads and that new WU requires 16.

So there you have it. There are many reasons why we are where we are today. How many different ways does it need to be said?

For those it is important to, we are in the lead right now. Let's spend energy on what is better for the human race. Spread the word about what we do... Get past folders back, get new blood in the ranks... That will force [H] to keep up the good fight and us to fight back for the top spot.

For  others that do not care about the placement in rank...

Like I have said many times... It does not matter if you have one PPD or 10,000,000 PPD... It all helps.

Couldn't give you hard numbers because I haven't run a single Hex i7.

I went from Q6660 FARM and GPU rig of 3x 9800GX2 cards, to i7 920 chips, to SR-2 to 4P 6174s.

I personally skipped the whole i7 hex chips and went strait to multi proc. It's the [H]ard way of doing things.

I am not going to get into all of that with you, here is the link (Link) and it says.... You can help scientists studying Alzheimer's, Huntington's, and many cancers by simply running a piece of software on your computer or game console... This is not the topic of this thread and I will end my comments there.

Got the WRONG guy Atlas. I have Never advocated any "cheating/cheater" excuse against any team, BRO. Have you just got here or just don't read much? Back your pony up the thread and see. I don't get where you choose me to quote one of my posts and dump insinuating that I ever had any position that you are ranting about. Love you for your contributions, but get off my post for your rant. I don't delete any WU given me, I don't delete anything. I let WU's run their course. If they don't then they will time out and I'll restart then.

Your ignorance is making a very noble Team look horribly ignorant. Get the right GUY. I ain't him dude!
