I have noticed a few threads asking about audio recently and thought it might be a good idea to have one thread where we can discuss our beloved sound systems whether it be for home, car, or office.  This is a place where you can ask questions, post reviews, or just show off.

I'll start.  Here is my 2 channel system.  I'm always messing with it looking for sonic perfection.

My gear

HK 3490 Stereo receiver
Bowers & Wilkins DM604s3 Floor Standing Speakers
MTX SW1212 Sub (not pictured)
Sony PS1 (Surprisingly good CD Player)
Laptop running Foobar 2000 playing Apple Lossless to a Presonus USB Audio Box DAC

As an experiment, I have moved the black amp at the bottom of my rack into the living room and am using it to power my car subs for HT use.  Surprisingly it worked VERY well.  I am genuinely impressed with how tight and full the bass sounds from a pair of Kicker CVR12's running off an ADCOM GFA-555 putting out 600w RMS.

    My gear:

Denon AH-D2000 - Amped by Sony 5.1 receiver, don't remember what model, but it's old. Source is Winamp with FLAC Lossless, and sound card is an Auzentech Forte 7.1.

Also have a pair of Kicker 6" car speakers in a custom wood box, which was more for fun than anything.

Edit: Not sure if the headphones count or not.

Headphones count.  I have been considering a pair of headphones for a while.  Still can't make up my mind on in-ear or circumaural.

I moved my 5.0 setup to the living room in my new place but for that i have a Denon AVR-1910 using a polk audio CS2 for center and polk audio monitor 40's for front's and rear's.

In my bedroom now with my PC setup i have an M-Audio AV40 for main listening and  FiiO e7/e9 DAC/amp combo with a pair of sennheiser HD595's for late night gaming/music enjoyment.

(note  my desk isn't that bad now, i had just setup stuff, i've since done a bunch of cable management etc)

In that case, I keep wanting to recable my Denon's and with a better sleeving. I also want to move to the D5000's or D7000's eventually though, so I'm not sure. I love how well the D2000 have served me. I'm also wanting to get new earpads though.

Perhaps sometime in college I'll pick up a set of D7000's and have Lawton Audio do them, to go with my GTX 690s. (Will get two of them when they are at ~$300-500 each).

My gear isn't much, but I LOVE professional audio. I have 2x KRK Rokit 8's on my rig, and wow... My house shakes when a grenade goes off ROTFL.

Also got AKG cans for at night, can't remember exact model.

I cannot afford the Audio I want. So I settled on all PolkAudio 9.2 Surround , Emotive Amp, and Onkyo control in the theater space. And PolkAudio 5.1 powered and controlled by my Harman Kardon in my gaming room...

I need to get something that will do that after college..

For now, while I'm still in high school I figure headphones are the best choice.

I just set some of those up for my friend, they rock!

He is in his late 30's, and I recently talked him into PC gaming! He played CS:Strike when it was huge. And I told him about CS:GO, and when he heard that, he basically threw his money at me to build him a modern rig!

A little something that puts some bump in my trunk. I enjoy Alpine's products, as they are reliable and not overly expensive. Most of their equipment is competition grade electronics. When I was younger, my car's stereo would often be worth more than the car lol- JL/Memphis Audio. This is a nice balance, with room to upgrade.

In between piling on the retirement money I really don't have a lot of extra cash for audio right now.

I own a pair of Audio Technica AD700 and AD900s. I'm really itching to get into a pair of open-backed headphones that have a little more bass power though. I'm not really a base-head but even the AD900s are a little too crisp and light.

I just have some measly sony 5.1... not even hd capable.. :( but im in college, and exclusively use my Klipsch Image S4 in ear's and I love them! super crisp at high levels with a nice full sound, all depends on the mix of the source tho, crappy mix = crappy sound from them, but a great mix = mind blown :)

I am running a high end media system composed of a RCA 39 inch HDTV(2012 model), Sony BluRay player(2012 model), a fat based failing PS3 and my 14 year old stereo system. Soon I want to get the Sony 550W sound bar since I like it's options and price point of 300 bucks. As much as I wanted to fix my stereo system and get a subwoofer for it the cost would be more than what a sound bar costs. I also plan on adding the Wii U once it comes out. The 1080P output it will have makes me drool.

As it stands my setup looks GREAT but doesn't sound as great cause of the stereo system. I should also focus on a set of 2.1 speakers for the computer. I love my HD 202 headset but they weren't meant for constant use with the computer. They were meant mostly for my iPad.

I highly recommend frequenting your local thrift stores.  I find a lot of really nice stuff at my local thrift store.  For instance, today I found a nice pair of speaker stands for $10 which allowed me to get my rear surrounds off of bookshelves 11ft away, and put them right behind the couch.  This has made an absolutely huge difference in my surround sound.

Another example is the Adcom Pre-amp and Amp that I purchased for only $150.  This is high end stuff.

What subs do you have?  I have been looking at subs lately.  I would like to save up and get a new one in the $500-$700 range.  Some of the ones I have been looking at are

    SVS SB12-NSD
    Epik Legend
    XTZ 99 W12.16
    HSU Research VTF-2 MK4
    Simply Sound Rumba 12
    Rythmik Audio FV12
    Emotiva X-ref 12
    Outlaw Audio LFM-1 Plus

If any of you have any of these subs, could you let me know what you think of them?
