If that doesn't work, try increasing your DIMM V to 1.7. Hey, you don't have "Turbo performance" turned on (not to be confused with "turbo mode"), do you?

no ive read nothing but bad with that on furmark so far 95C before the fan decides to go faster on auto fan .... evga needs to set the speed up temp lower 80ish would be nice lol (yes i know eleet can do that but it also sometimes locks it at 40% fan speed (had that happen a couple times ive got a monitor set to alarm @92c just in case. lol crysis 2 doesn't make the fan run full tilt lol

LOL Minecraft doesn't stress the GPU. Yeah, sounds like GPU freeze prob to me. My recommendation is you uninstall any GPU setting utility you have installed now, after writing down all the current OC settings for your GPU, download and install MSI Afterburner, and set your own custom fan profile. You need to enable it in the options menu first. MSI Afterburner is awesome for Nvidia gfx. Set a profile that ramps up to max fan at/before 80C (it is fun to work with BTW). And reduce the polling interval to about 0.1 second (100mS), I think the default is 1 second (1000mS), I can't remember, it's been awhile.

BTW, I re-wrote my gfx BIOS ("firmware") with my custom fan profile, I too had probs too with fan not spinning up fast enough, games hanging. I tried Afterburner, loved it, but it failed to properly control my fans on both my cards. But I have AMD, and Afterburner is designed primarily for Nvidia. Made me wish I had Nvidia 5xx models.

What is the max temp for your GPUs? IDK. It could be 90. In any case, IMHO it is too hot when it is over 90. You could back off the OC, reducing voltage too. How hot is it in the room ("ambient temp")?

Well then you should back off the OC to stock un-overclocked 470 settings (you can easily find that info online) to test whether or not it is the GPU causing your freezes. If it don't freeze any more, then you know it is the GPU. Otherwise, you are just playing around with your computer.

.... i put my old geforce 7950 gx2 in seems i can't freeze with it in (i ran the test that froze my 470 gtx it ran at least 3 times longer... also this is with all settings set to auto in the bios. im going to put a earlier bios on maybe 49 just need to check which ones are compatible with my 980x so i don't have a problem with that... one of the earlier ones was compatible with the 470gtx cause i could run fur mark on it for over a hour... (lol it may freeze now but i think its worth a try lol

lol it is a bios issue lol i ran the same test that froze on bios 82 in about 15 mins for a hour and 30 mins with no freezes on bios 59 this is with everything set on auto in the bios settings. so it's a bug on the bios that started around when the gpu detection code was added (59 is the one before it was added)... my gpu also runs cooler on this bios than on 82, at idle it was more than 50 with auto fan on now its less than 45 (i shut off msi afterburner to make sure.) i checked the temprature with adia64. on bios 82 the plugs on the graphics card are also swapped on 59 they are the other way around lol this doesn't matter much though. i have my cables marked so they get put back in the same way everytime. also everything is much stabler on 59 which is odd lol

Please post your findings on this thread: EVGA X58 Motherboards - BIOS 82 Released so other ppl can be aware of it, so they too can fix their problem, and so EVGA can fix it if it is in fact a BIOS bug. Also when you do that more ppls with the same prob may come forward and report their findings.

i tried bios 64 again it seems to freeze too exactly why i remember skipping it and the next 2 after it lol. (i tested for freezing on them all.) 77 was ok but still froze but less often, beta 80 was ok too although i never used it long enough for it to freeze (went back to 77) then to 82. lol now ive got hard decision to make lol (working graphics w/no freezes/stuttering or freezes/faster raid/sleep working.... lol)
