Looks good! Can't wait to see the end, and what your doing with the PSU grill in the resin stuff. All I could think looking at that pic was this :

Thanks for the hints! I think I have a fairly good idea of where this is going now, no exposed wiring except the power cord coming from the base? That would also explain having to dismantle the psu.

realmad37 Hmm you still working on this? I would like to see more! I have been in short bits all summer. Unfortunately I have had various delays and setbacks. It's about 70% done. Here's my most recent progress: I got into a fight with a sheet metal bender and lost.

Dang. That word should describe how that feels. Anymore would make it sound less dramatic.

I was told that trying to passive-cool a 470 was inadvisable, don't do it, impossible! Guys -- one of my goals with this project was to create an essentially silent system. As I've been building it, I was positioning a single fan across both my 470 and i7 860 (the system has mostly been sitting open-air or in its frame w/o panels). This setup kept the temps on the CPU below 50 or so, and the 470 in the mid 60s all under load. Today I am getting ready to panel the case and wanted to make sure that my final design would really work. So I taped and cardboarded off the frame to mimic its final airflow design. There is only one single exhaust fan at the back of the system, moving somewhere between 35-50CFM (it's a generic Ultra fan). These are my temps running Furmark on the 470... http://img84.imageshack.us/img84/5566/470passivetestsinglecas.jpg As you can see, the temperatures are quite good. I am considering making another thread to discuss these results, both because the Prolimatech MK-13 has gotten a bad reputation [albeit I am using some extra mods/tricks to make it work], and because I have always believed that intelligent airflow design is more important than just piling on fans as you see in most cases. What do you guys think? (I think this is freakin sweet! )

Gone Cruising Hey....can I get some pic's? I'm dying here to see the case!!!!!! Aye aye Capn Kirk! She's a-comin' soon! (You're welcome to find me on facebook if you have one, I upload pictures there much more often since it's quicker.) Between cutting and painting stuff (and packing to move ) I did a little more fan tweaking and bam, even lower GPU temps: http://img713.imageshack....ssivetestsinglecas.jpg This, on the same card that used to hit 95C @ 100% fan and scream like a little girl just trying to run games. Heck, I very well may be able to get it Folding again once the case is done!

Project is suspended for awhile as I've now moved into an apartment. Working on sleeving while here. I'd just like to state that not only does the single-fan cooling system work great, but the entire frame is suspended on a single thin rear strut and is freestanding perfectly on my desk right now. I consider both of these to be big design gambles/feats and can't wait to get the finished details done to show you guys. This will be my first entry in the new Mods Rigs system after starting the "improve mods rigs" thread about two years ago Hope Shane will be proud!

I like, I like!! I like small computers as opposed to the big hulks that have to sit underneath your desk! I'd LOVE to do an ITX build (carputer) so anxiously looking forward to seeing the results of this mighty mini!
