Only hours away from another spot in PRP!  I added another system to MJ-12 so hopefully I gain something from that.  I know we're making progress there, but it doesn't seem like we're getting anywhere....

Starting to let things just run until out of work in preparation for the PrimeGrid challenge.

We've been putting some good work into RC5, as well, moving up 15+ spots daily....

That will be big points for PRP! And it's always good to have another system on Majestic 12. Progress comes in time. I know it's a long haul, but it was a billion point gap from 30th to 28th. We're deep in that and moving forward each day.

Also, I see five people active in dpad this week. Looks like we got us a convoy.

None of us is as strong as all of us.

We're slowly gaining on 14th in the vault, but they've been ramping up efforts in PRP as well.... If outputs stay the same, we'll at least gain another spot there before they gain one....

We are really rolling in dpad now! Well over half a million and the day is not yet done. And I'm fourth out of the five people returning work. I'll happily fall to the back if it means progress like this.

None of us is as strong as all of us.

My (visible) dpad production will be down for a bit. To celebrate their upcoming anniversary, WCG is giving away banners to anyone returning work the next couple of weeks to post via Facebook, etc. and help get the word out about what they do. I want to go get mine! Plus it's been a couple weeks since I've crunched some kids cancer. I need to pay it a visit and remind cancer which afflicts kids what I think of it.

I just wanted to give a big shout out and welcome to Carl dXPC who is churning out some nice numbers in both OGR and RC5.  That helped us gain about 50 points in the Vault in one day.

Added four cores to muon1.... Think I'm just gonna use four cores on my main system for our lowest project and then spread the other four on various boinc projects.... My other desktop has 2 finishing up primegrid tasks and 5 switching between ogr and rc5.... Laptop is strictly gimps running TF tasks....

everything above 5h  runtime on the benchmark machine is considered XXL. So it can be 6h or 2 1/2 months  (no kidding). Worst thing is, they don´t have checkpoints and rather narrow deadlines. You can get extensions on these, but still.

Re:"Plundering the DC Vault" - strategy thread 2012/11/10 08:32:57 (permalink)
OcUK is quickly closing the gap in PRP.  The last month, they've doubled our production, the last week, they've quadrupled our production and the last day, they've done 10 times what we have....  Unless my math is wrong, we'll move up a spot in a few days only to move back down about a week later as they will move up 3 spots in that amount of time....  that grows their lead overall in the vault almost another 1000 points, pretty hard to get without a combined effort in a project or two....  moving up 495 spots in rc5 or 40 spots in RNA World or about 85 spots in OGR, etc....  Without trying to calculate how long it would take us to make up those points lost in any of these three projects, it is possible with these....  RNA World, we're pretty close to top 10 for daily, weekly and monthly production, rc5 and ogr, we're moving up at a decent pace for the few we have working those, 10+ daily on rc5, and about 1 a day in OGR....  Rough estimates, about 2 months on rc5, 3 months ogr and 6+ years for RNA World....  really rough estimates for ogr and rc5 when it should be closer to 8 months or so for ogr and about 2.5 years for rc5 at our current outputs....

I don't think it is worth the effort for everyone to get prp and set it up if they don't have it already, the points gap jumps 2+ mil per position after we move up one in the next few days....  It'll take OcUK a month or so to move up again after they pass us....  They're only running two members on PRP and collectively, they're returned about 200 units in the last 30 days....  Really contemplating setting it up on both desktops and running it on 6 threads each for a few days....  But we need to try to make up those points at least....  I don't see us holding them off forever on PRP....

Yeah, I´ve been chasing them across a number of projects the last month.
So far we´ve overtake them in Yoyo ,NFS and RNA.
They´re within striking distance in Leiden classic  and Sztaki and if we can get one or 2 more gpus in POEM as well. I can  certainly put more on Leiden, and give them a run for their money there.

Also don´t forget the primegrid challenge. I don´t know how many ressource have been pulled from other projects there.
PS:
Hanluc ( from the British underclockers), I see you´re watching us

Yeah, I've been seeing an increase in a few projects the last few days....
My output will be up and down randomly the next 5 weeks due to some programming classes....

Not up to speed physically, but added POEM and Sztaki to the list... working solutions now.  Sorry I'm so out of it.

A decent gain with this update....  Moved up a spot in muon1....  I'm putting alot towards GIMPS and PRP, so we'll be gaining pretty good in a few days....

Nice!  I have had my shiny new 3930K running 12 threads of muon1 off an on for a couple days.  I will continue until the TZC starts.

Muon1 teams ahead of us should officially be on notice, rjbelans is making some noise.  That combines well with Opolis and his 3930K for a hefty 1-2 punch.

AvengingAngel, I may hand you the yellow jersey this week, but I'm hoping to take it back on Thursday.  Ultimately, I believe it will be yours.

I will see if I can help out with Muon1 as well.

I am working on getting Wine running on my Linux systems to run the Muon1 application.

got a few PRP tasks finishing up in a few hours....  Currently turning in about 6 GIMPS tasks every hour, slowly chipping away the gaps there....  random BOINC work being done on another system....

I had to manually install approximately 12 different 32-bit libraries, mostly X related in order to get Muon1 to run under Wine in Linux. Muon1 is running now in Linux and even shows the graphical output with progress which is neat. I have Muon1 running alongside BOINC - Einstein GPU and LHC 2.0 without any issues so far.

My production might be going down for a bit.... Reorganizing things.... Gimps can use the gpu, but you get and turn in the work manually and it has issues running alongside a running instance of prime95 since it uses the same work file.... Gonna install everything on the second desktop a well....

Yes and no.
Yoyo is considered its own project with one of its sub projects being muon.
So if you run muon through yoyo, it will count as yoyo for the vault

When I started the Muon client, it came up with a box to enter my [team]username before it started the first unit.

We moved into 24 and looks like we will likely go to 22nd today. Seems like Col323 made a large dump yesterday too. What was that, about 5-6 million? Do you just do manual dumps? The latest client that I've been running automatically sends the work in unless I force it.

My WCG will continue to produce, but all other rigs will be switched to folding starting this evening for the TZC. I will go back to spreading the resources across a few projects once we win the challenge.
