Cudenver, just follow your heart. Witha 4p crunching, points are coming in either way. You´ll have rather slow completion times, but with the sheer mass of cores.... those of us still holding the fort here, seem to concentrate on eon, muon (the stand alone app, not through yoyo) and sztaki., whilst still running the other projects as well. i´m currently running eon, sztaki, yoyo, climate prediction, malaria control ,a bit of wcg, and poem on my measly GT520. Once we´ve been overtaken, I´ll return one or 2 of my rigs to crunching and then will see how I distribute projects. There are also a few projects that are out of tasks like simap, lattice and qmc (quantum monte carlo). Simap should get some work back around the 1st, qmc is moving their servers, and with lattice nobody knows, they might be back on Monday or in 2 months (that´s just the way their project works) Also don´t forget, with any project you´re running you help keeping our position there and not make us loose ground there, whilst making up points ón a different one.

I wasn't sure where to post this, but since Majestic-12 is part of the Vault.... Majestic-12 will be posting their 3rd quarter dividends. Yep... We fell all the way to 21st... Hope they get it fixed and back to normal. Hard to know where we are at when the past few weeks or so they numbers are all goofed up. I bet this takes a LOT of effort, and am willing to give it time regardless...

Hitting some of the higher points/position projects right now.... Collatz, prp, RNA, eon and muon, as well as MJ12 and two non-vault projects, CAS and Neurona.... No typhoons in th enear future so I can probably break out the laptop from my typhoon duty bag and have it run gimps or something....

It looks like the LHC@Home stats page changed, so they have to get things sorted out. Give them a week and it should be working.

Looks like they removed it.... There was talk about splitting LHC into t4t and sixtrack, or just manually combining the two stats, not sure if they're still working that out or not, so us moving up to 16th again might be temporary....

They will definitely be getting Sixtrack up, but there is discussion on whether to put a second one up for T4T. I would imagine that they will keep the two separate if T4T does get added to the Vault.

One unit per thread.... It's basically using Prime95 except not the stress testing side of it, so you can set how many threads to run.... Some take days.... I haven't gotten into too much other than setting up the account at telling it how many threads to run....
The rankings on GIMPS site is strange, it generally only shows stats for the year, the Vault uses combined lifetime stats....

You can use GPUs with GIMPS as well. It's currently a manual process to get and submit work, but it's possible with both nvidia (Cuda) and AMD (OpenCL) cards. When I tried this they recommended GPUs run Lucas Lehmer (LL) tests, but Trial Factoring provided more points/day. - Here's a link to the GPU section of the project forums for basic info and FAQs
- Here's a link to a separate nvidia setup guide I found helpful
- Here's a link to a nice Windows GUI you can run on top of the console clients

Thanks guys, just got around setting up. had to finish an smp wu first. No gpu for the moment, and used the default 4 workers with one thread.According to the task manager it still uses all 8 threads on that 2600k. Hope we can get back that one position there we´ve lost today soon

So, I did some calculations.... within the next 24 hours, we should at least gain one position in Muon1, RNA, NFS, POEM, SZTAKI, QMC, MilkyWay, LHC, RC5, Rosetta and WCG.... Some we might have already moved up since I did my list.... More importantly, we're looking at moving up at one spot in 21 of the 33 Vault projects.... Roughly.... I took the difference between us and the team above us and used the difference in yesterday's output as opposed to averages.... In the cases where the team above us is outproducing us, I used the first team above us we were outproducing.... Didn't look at the teams below us to see if there was a chance of dropping back one before moving up one....

http://www.digik-oz.nl/dcVaultStats.aspx?team=Crunching@EVGA This made it alot easier, links to stats for every Vault project in one location.... Not sure how up to date they were last night when I made my list, alot of the ones I saw that we were within 24 hours of moving up, we moved up at least one on the previous Vault update.... I'm wanting to write something that'll get our rank and points for each project and use our average to calculate how long to move up one rank. Free DC does it, but I'm wanting everything on one page

It could, I don't see why it wouldn't be possible.... I didn't do too good in my web programming class, so it would still take me a bit.... I didn't do too well in my database class, either but it seemed to be more theory than actually setting them up and using them and then the final project dealt heavily with designing, building, populating and interacting with a massive one.... Not massive, but one the scale of what we used learning the theory, it was massive.... I don't foresee much free time anytime soon to really be able to sit down and try to work on this.... At least for the next 6 months or so.... I've been tossing around ideas for a few months now about it, hopefully I have some downtime to plan it out before I have time to actually work on it.... Edit: So I found the stats export for all of the projects that follow the basic BOINC project website layout.... Now just need to work on those that don't follow the same template, automate getting them on a schedule, build a database for it all, automate updating the database and build the page for it.... Instead of just doing it for our team, I think I'll build in functionality to choose a team and then display the current rank for each project, and possibly 5 teams above and below with an estimated days to pass if we output more and days to be passed if a team below outputs more.... Not sure how long it'll take to process all of the files and not sure how much space it'll all take up, so more than likely it'll be just teams for right now.... I'd love to be able to expand it show all of our members and their projects and include more than just Vault projects, but right now I don't want to get caught up in having alot of stats, that is just more things that can go wrong.... Considering how long it took me to sit down and try to find the stats export from when I started thinking about all of this months back, my stats could be down for awhile....

RH, DC Vault makes it's stats available to others for other uses. Would it be easier to re-use those from the Vault? Or did you want to include other projects not in the Vault, or not have to rely on DC Vault's stats in the first place?

In a few days (31st), I´ll be dumping a few GIMPS tasks. Should give us a nice boost there. BTW, I see that you´re spitting out a lot of small task there RHMash. What are your settings ? I´ll be leaving for a holiday end of Nov and don´t want to be stuck with too long tasks before i shut everything down.

From the GIMPS account page, under CPUs you can set the type of tasks assigned per core/worker.... The ECM and TF tasks are the small ones I've been putting out from my laptop, I was testing some things out, running gimps on both cores as well as boinc on both cores.... I've stopped boinc on it.... I switched to the shorter tasks for that one since it was estimating almost twice as long for the same ll and ll-d tasks my 3770k was pulling.... The TF tasks take my laptop almost 2 hours per task.... I would make sure you adjust your work buffer, as well.... Default is 5 days, I think....
