I'm just finishing up a custom computer and case for a very dear friend of mine and I wanted to share it with you.
Mr. Greene is the master craftsman who has taught me so much about woodworking. He contacted me and asked for a small form factor computer for his office. He wanted something skinny and left a lot of the details up to me. I've been itching to make him something out of wood out of my appreciate for all that he has done for me. He doesn't know that I made him a custom wooden case yet! I'm excited about it!!
You can see the DVD/CD burner slot and the little wooden "eject" button on the front along with the two audio ports, two USB ports and the power button.
On the side is the inlet vent directly over the CPU fan and heatsink. I did the "30" in honor of the 30 years that he has had his workshop. Since this computer won't be stressed much, I'm using the CPU fan as both the CPU fan and the inlet/exhaust fan.
Here is a shot of the rear panel, the "Greene" outlet vent and power cord.
Although he wanted it to stand on its edge, I designed it so that it would work on its edge, like pictured above as well as on its side.
Case come apart like a drawer. I haven't hooked up the wires yet for clarity's sake. There is room for two full sized 3.5" HDD's one will be his old computer's hard drive and the other one will be his new 1TB drive!
If you flip the cover over you can see the slim, slot-loading DVD drive as well as the back of the power button and front ports.
The hard drive holder is a simple mechanism into which the hard drives slide into and are screwed. The narrow ends of the holder then fit into corresponding holes in the case. Another wooden tab (not pictured) then secures it in place on the other end.
Hopefully I'll have it shipped to him by the end of next week! Thanks for looking.
