people, please be patient while waiting for stock cards because the few cards being on stock are getting abusively overpriced, and this is because people can not be patient enough and rush to buy cards at any cost, at this moment i searched on amazon and cards such 970 ones are being priced as high as 400 dollars and higher.

i am also waiting for one of the evga 970 cards (specially ftw) for almost a month but i dont have problems waiting for some more time, eventually they come with the right price some day, patience is a virtude and has its own rewards.

people, there are many things to do in real life while you wait for a fairly priced cards, so no real need to rush and feed those abusive overpricing companies.

just look at this pricing joke i found on a amazon: an VGA EVGA GTX 970 ACX 1.0 4GB GDDR5 256bit, DVI-I, DVI-D, HDMI, DP SLI Ready Graphics Card (04G-P4-0972-KR) Graphics Cards 04G-P4-0972-KR
priced as high as $11,099.89 + $16.19 shipping!!

patience patience patience!!

supply and demand, you have no idea about our finances or in Zordrack's case - his current systems' state.   Not the most valuable of posts, when I saw the subject line I was hoping you had some information about dates,  not a queenly "Keep Calm, and Carry On" message.

Yes, everyone is going to put their own life aside just for you. If you don't like the prices, THEN DON'T BUY IT!

Your plea is only heard here and it will have very little impact on the majority of people purchasing those cards... You will have to convince more than just EVGA. You will need to convince everyone that is buying every other brand out there that is in direct competition with EVGA, because their prices will set the base for where EVGA is going to be.

It is odd that other brands don't seem to be showing up at retailers like Newegg. If you like Zotac cards then you will be in luck. I have seen Gigabyte and EVGA every once in a while, Asus I can't remember when. Too bad. Perhaps Nvidia never expected to do so well?

I agree, it took 19 days to receive my 970 and I wasn't going to pay any more to get one faster. IMO it was well worth the wait.

u could just place an order on amazon (ones that are sold by amazon.com) and they will ship the card as soon as they have an estimated delivery date.
It's not that long. Believe me. Probably 3 - 5 days of wait and they'll give u a delivery estimation via email.

    Yeah, They are available,
But the Limit is Two, which means if I bought Two of them now, according to Newegg I would have to wait 48 Hours and then try to buy another Two IF they were available again!

I tried to refuse to be patient, and not wait... sadly time to not adjust to self due to my lack of patience. Best I could do is get angry, but I couldn't get anything faster.

Reminds me of a message I saw on a game's loading screen " Loading... don't wait if you don't want too" And I'm like "How?"

LOL... $1,300 EVGA 980 reference (but you get free shipping!) [link]   ..not quite the $11,000 GTX-970 though!

This happens every time a new card comes out though, has done for many years.. why don't NVidia carry a lot more stock on release to start with? ..or maybe they limit it in case there are issues with the card.. hmmm.

Good, Amazon should limit too. That way there is less chance of people buying up all the stock and selling them for 1,000 dollars.

They do it to boost demand. Create an artificial shortage and people want the product even more and will pay more. Too much stock is a bad thing because you have to lower the price to sell off inventory.

I'm being extremely patient only by necessity since I can't buy a 980 without selling my 780 ti.

I bought Four EVGA GTX 980 SC's a Month ago on Newegg when they first came out and there was No Limit at Newegg for $570 each, and then After Testing them for a week in 4-way SLI, I Sold them for $550 each, So I actually Lost $$$$.

Yeah, but you're one in a million. They put those limits on the stock for a reason.

thanks for those that came with constructive replies, after all, its for the good of all us, not just for me to have patience, that way fair prices will emerge.

i have a question:  im thinking on ordering one of these that usually ships between 2 to 5, weeks on amazon, do somebody know if i would be able to cancel that order in the case that another decently priced card becomes in stock while waiting those weeks?

edit: asked to amazon via chat, they said i would be able to cancel the order at any time.

unless you're coming from a much older card, why the rush? I'm moving from a 770GTX 4GB to the 970 FTW for future SLI.  The 770 handles anything I can throw at it..so I'll just bide my time.

    patience young ones.

I don't know if it's worth anything. There's an expected availability date on this site they say 3 november 2014. There's hope 2 more weeks :p www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1085203REG/evga_04g_p4_2982_kr_geforce_gtx_980_superclocked.html

There isn't an artificial shortage conspiracy just because some customers take not having their way personal.  None of you are giving nVidia much incentive to build up stock quickly because it isn't like any of you are threatening to leave nVidia.  This is a business rule; not a moral honor thing just because you feel owed for name brand alignment.

Had AMD been late from an original nVidia market analysts' forecast, then the prices of GTX970 and GTX980 would come off as too low for the gamble that AMD would be on-time.  In hindsight of lacking a competitor, the stock of GTX900's would have been better had prices been higher; it worked with the first Titan.

But AMD could come back anytime being the only real incentive to build stock up again.  In other words, it won't have anything to do with customers having hissyfits over lack of stock or overcharge, even EVGA can effective ignore this entire thread, what do they care?  None of you are so upset about the shortage that you'll go out an buy Radeons.

I have seen numerous posts where former EVGA customers have already purchased from another reseller like MSI or whoever.. This doesn't effect NVidia as much, but certainly does EVGA.

In addition, there are a significant number of impulse buyers that would buy right now if stock were available, but given time to think, will possibly go for a cheaper 970 instead of 980, or perhaps not upgrade at all, so having no stock is not really that smart a move. Out of stock for a short while might create urgency, but not after a month or more as is the case now. Once they finally do get a good supply of stock, the hype will have died down, losing even more sales. Same goes for those who always want to be first on the block with the latest gear.. NVidia got everyone hyped on on new series and didn't deliver product. The lucky few who got cards at the start are ok, but those who wanted to get a card in part to just keep up with the Jones' are now disappointed.

As far as AMD goes, they aren't really able to compete with the 980 right now, so it's not really relevant. A sale is a sale. If NVidia/EVGA don't make a sale, profit margin = zero, regardless of what AMD does.

I think people like myself that already own and run 4K displays should bet priority or something because you really don't need this much power in a vidcard unless you are running 4K
I need it so I can do fullscreen 4k recording since shadowplay doesn't let you record at 4K with anything less than a 900 card

Wait, you mean they don't analyze the market? You mean they really want too much inventory? All sarcasm aside, they wouldn't be a very successful company if they always came to market with more inventory than demand, they would have to lower profit margins to sell off the excess inventory. People think about this from a personal standpoint and what they would like to see the price and supply be, but not from the actual business perspective.
