I dont mean to turn this into a gun debate so please dont make it into one. I am currently in Seoul and they have some gun ranges you can shoot at. Although you have to file paperwork weeks in advance including what weapons you will shoot as you can not decide once you get there. My wife has never shot a rifle or pistol, so I was goong to start her on a .22 rifle. The gun range we are going to does not have a .22 rifle, only pistol. They do have ar15s and a p90. I dont want her to shoot an ar15, as she is only 90 lbs and never shot a rifle. I just dont think a 5.56 full rifle round is a good starting ground. I have never shot a p90 so I am not sure if the ergonomics and rifle will teach a good fundamentals. Some of these new weapons are for more advanced users.

TL:DR, P90 a good choice for a 90lb beginner to learn on?

The AR 15 is a good rifle to learn marksmanship and doesn't have too strong of a kick.

Oh I know. Its my favorite weapon platform. The issue is more pyschological for her. the rifle is pretty agressive and is used for fighting and hollywood'd to be a killers rifle

The p90 is a submachine gun, not a rifle. It is compact and meant for moving and shooting. The ar15 would be much better as it has the mass to hold on to and be comfortable with. If you have ever weapon qualled, which you have since you went through basic, you know it doesn't kick. They also have .22lr ar15, so why not start her on that?

If .22lr isn't a choice, the 5.56 would be better. P90 doesn't have much to hold onto.

Also, 90lb women shoot them in weapons qual every day to get in the military. That isn't a once in a while thing. Every service has to use them, so you know they are safe to learn on, and you can have control over the weapon in case she panics and drops it like many people do the first time.

I am well versed in the AR15, very well versed..

I know physically she can do it. She is mentally ill prepared to fire an AR15 as I explained. It's like people shooting their first .50 cal, most are nervous or excited and the anticipation gets to them. I would love to start her on the .22lr ar15, but I must rent it and the shop I am looking at says there is no .22 rifle at the range, although translation might be lost from english to korean. I will try to get her on the ar15, I'm just worried she will be to nervous. I am just not sure p90 would also be the best action as it might give her a bad foundation, as it is a smg not a rifle like you said. I would love to get her on a mp5 as I love that weapons platform, very sleek and easy to manipulate and zero kick, but alas civilian says is a no-go.

Hmm since your talking about P90 and MP5 which both are same caliber. Have you thought about the CZ Scorpion EVO 3 S1? Its the same caliber as those two. I say scorpion is the best because you have a nice firm butt stock she can rely on and there is more to hold on too.

do they have a .223 at the range? Bolt or semi-auto? Have her shoot that...then explain it's basically an AR-15 at lower pressure and velocity.

and btw...wear hearing protection (I'm sure you know ;))

the P90 has very little felt recoil.
i think it would be easier to learn to control than the ar15.

the P90 is a 5.7x28 cal.  the mp-5 is 9mm   the ar15 is .223 or 5.56. bothg the same just 1 in inche measurement and 1 in mm.

Yeah I have to call the store and ask. The ar15 is very iconic in korea so majority of users choose it.

I still have my electronic headset she will use with foam insert earpro. double protection is a must for indoor ranges.

I'd only let your wife fire a P90 is she feels comfortable with the bull pup platform... I'd honestly start her out on a .22 AR15 if that's available... It all comes down to what's she is comfortable with...
