Was using an DVI-D to HDMI(monitor connection) cable, and that was causing little lines to flicker on my screen
bought an HDMI to HDMI cable, the flicker is gone, but the problem is, my monitor stays in "sleep" mode until it get to my desktop, it wont show the boot process, or the starting windows logo, this is also preventing me from accessing my BIOS(have to connect the DVI-D-HDMI cable to get to BIOS) during startup as well, monitor will not come alive until it hits the windows desktop, anyone know what might be causing this
purchased an X-Star 27" Dp2710 that is DVI-D only, wont be here for another week

Is your video card in the primary slot in your PC? If not then this is exactly what you will see if it is not in the primary slot.

AMD Ryzen 9 7950X,  Corsair Mp700 Pro M.2, 64GB Corsair Dominator Titanium DDR5  X670E Steel Legend, MSI RTX 4090 Associate Code: H5U80QBH6BH0AXF. I am NOT an employee of EVGA

Yeah so, you can see my post here: /sigh still cannot post links, search this forum for "Black Screen during boot / Bios but not in OS," it is on page two now, but probably page three by the time you read this.

I am assuming you are connecting directly to the monitor yes? No AVR / HTPC like I have?

How did you install your OS / initial system setup?

What type of HDMI cable are you running? I currently have a version 1.4 (the 10.2 GBs type), and while I highly doubt a version 2.0 (the 18 GBs type would matter, I purchased one from Monoprice and will try it at home). My cable is known to work. Verify, somehow, your cable is good (I assume it is since you render video after boot).

I am trying to narrow down my problems but am not at home for another week to test any options. Curious if my install method / Windows method is forcing some kind of priority on the card. Curious if a possible vBIOS update could help (although I would want, somehow, to confirm my current vBIOS settings).

With the new HDMI cable installed, and no other monitors etc. hooked up, have you tried resetting the BIOS (via the button on your motherboard / removal of CMOS battery)? What about removing the driver and reinstalling?

I tend to think this issue, since it occurs outside of the Windows environment, eliminates the driver as an option, but that is pure speculation.

Connection is direct to monitor, it is a cable I purchased on ebay, though i did purchase both 6' and 3' of 24AWG DVI from Monoprice for the X-Star monitor when it arrives
I have reset the BIOS via jumper, i also used DDU to uninstall my graphics drivers and reinstalled them.

Yeah, I tend to think this is some sort of issue with the vBIOS.

In my case it may be a handshake issue with the AVR / TV, but if the monitor itself is not being recognized I think there is some sort of priority within the vBIOS that isn't updating properly / timely. I believe with dual monitors the DVI takes priority over HDMI, and I wonder if there is something along those lines causing a delay / failure until Windows takes over.

I would contact EVGA and give them the cards information (usually they ask for serial number etc. so you don't flash the wrong BIOS) and see if they will provide you with an updated vBIOS (use GPU-Z or something analogous to find out your current BIOS revision). There was an updated BIOS provided in Feb. for boot-up issues, and I am hoping when I get home I can go through this process and iron out the issue(s).
