Yea.  My 1 year old gets really rough with both my boston terrier and my caviier and both of them will just sit there and take it.  I get after my son to be nice, and he is getting it, but animals know, it's a baby, and my dogs are so awesome with him.  That cat, dead.

Kram, where is the logic in that? Your saying the before actions merit the child to full force slap the cat? Your saying the cat just bit him for no reason what so ever? Even if it's lacking the before actions, no doubt the child provoked those actions. Cat's are not aggressive animals.

Acknowledging straight up that children abuse pets and if they were to fight back in any way they are not allowed to react just like any other cat would react to another cat. People should really think about what they are getting into when getting a pet. You should know damn well what could happen. Getting rid of a cat for something as ridiculous as it slapping the kid in the face just as the kid did to him is not fair in ANY way. Putting a pet to death for something like that is just idiotic and that person should NEVER own a pet in the first place.

When I was little, I was hard on my dog, he would bite back pretty hard to let me know what I was doing hurt. It's a learning experience in life. I'd rather learn it from a pet early in my life than from another human being that can do far more damage. But I NEVER felt he should die or should get rid of him for doing that.

Cats are not an aggressive animal, good lord give me a break. Cats will attack over just scratching sounds. I've met cats you couldn't even pet as they would attack you for just getting near them.

You think that cat got a good smack from the little kid? If I was the parent and that cat bit my kid, it would have got the rear kicking it deserved from me not the child and the child would have been crying over the cat flying into a wall instead of crying over a face full of claws and teeth and falling off the bed. People make me sick when they feel it's ok for an animal to attack a child.

Kram, you could also say the same thing about Michael Vick's dogs, does that make dogs aggressive in general? Cats ARE NOT aggressive, only when mistreated or abused will they act like that.

There is a difference between attacking and defending. That cat left after the smack in the face, clearly a defense pounce to show it did not like that. An attack would be when the cat went to repeatedly hurt something, not just hit and run. Who's to say that cat had claws anyway? Sorry Kram, but who are you to put something to death for something like that? Really hope you don't own any pets.

Okay guys, it just looks like the cat warned the child not hurt him.
Can we just let this go now?
