AGP2PCI hahahaha this is truly priceless! 
One of my clients asked me a few weeks ago if I could order him an "ISA adapter" because he had an old Sound Blaster AWE64 card he wanted to use. He said something about how new computers will never sound as good as this card. 
Well Midi wise he is correct too
The General Midi on todays sound cards is terrible compared to the Midi of the AWE64 Gold, that is one thing for sure, never heard Midi of this card before? you might want to check this video out of a PC I renovated from 1997-1999:
http://forums.evga.com/fb.ashx?m=1823121 Nothing even touches the AWE64 Gold Midi & sound effects wise, these cards are relics and are still most wanted for retro builds, like an old game PC or builds that are made to make midi music.

The best sound cards for HD sound are these:

There aren't cheap either, their drivers are brilliant too, they have all in one unified drivers, so no more driver terror downlaods from Creative for example, these are Sound Blaster X-Fi's done right, with studio quality hardware parts and upgradable Op AMPs, you name it.
As sound cards goes these are my favs and so far I have not met anything that beats them sound quality wise.
