That's because the eyes and mouths are oriented correctly in this position - it's when you rotate the picture, that they are upside down.  And it's the details our eyes are trained to notice, so 'pretty eyes and mouths' is how our brain processes the image, not the fact that they are upside down on the face as rendered.

I figured out why after a  minute staring at them.  As you look at them now (upside down) their bodies are upside down, but their lips and their eyes are 180° so they are looking at you normally now, but when flipped, they look like something from the Twilight Zone.
