Zephmeister, nice to have you aboard, every work unit counts and helps the cause (and the team of course)

I've attached a link to the EOCF stats for you, it helps to keep you in the know

Currently recent (last 2 series) GPU's produce more ppd, but you should also get a "Passkey" this opens up the Quick Return Bonus (QRB)  it has a couple of requirements

10 completed work units (using the Passkey)

80% success rate on the work units

If you have any questions post up and I'm sure someone will have the answer for you

Yeah, I used a passkey from the start so I haven't missed out on building to my first 10 WUs. I guess I just need some advice on how to fold more efficiently in terms of settings on the clients? I hear a lot of people talking about getting WUs from certain projects and whatnot. Also, I started folding on my linux based server but I have no idea how to use the control or viewer in a command line interface :/

not much you can do on the CPU side...
you just take bad WU's with good ones - setting flags won't do
much (because eventually everything goes to general pool)

The only thing you can do here is overclock or go for more cores
6 core or Multiple socket CPU's - 2P or 4P (ie -bigadv flag)

the GPU side is where you'll make the difference with kepler cards and FAH Flags

so until you have a high end GPU that can benefit from it I wouldn't worry

Ah, I see. Thanks for that info Xavier :)

Johnerz,

Thanks for the info and the intention was to receive EVGA Bucks.  Is it possible to have my forum name changed?  I didn't see anything in the User CP that gave me an option to do that.  Either I'm blind and didn't look hard enough, or there just isn't an option.  I would need to change my forum name here, or I guess create a whole new EVGA account because folding@home will not accept my name Sh4dow5.

Xavier,

Thanks!  Everything should be good to go soon.

This is yet another reason why I want to send my points to Team EVGA.  Amazing and helpful members!

I've been meaning to start folding ever since I started building my computer and now that I finally made the effort to download the client, I've run into some problems because I haven't read the threads related to it thoroughly which mostly is because it's 5am right now... So.. I'm curious if there's any new updates as to setting up the tracker that was mentioned in the thread starter? I tried following the instructions on on "How to start folding - the easy way" but it seems you've come a long way since v2. I tried installing v2, looks like it works but nothing going on there so I thought I'd try installing v7. Ran it which I downloaded from the F@H page and it opens up this webapp that shows me my folding slots. Says waiting for idle on my GPU slot, what does this mean? How do I make it start? I also have "cpu:3", does this mean it's only utilizing my 3rd core? I want to let 'er rip as I'm about to go to bed right now. Oh and one more thing, I was starting to get really concerned about why there was no progress on the cpu even though it was running. When I saw 1.12% my eyes lit up! OMG THIS IS SO HAPPENING JAJAJAJJAA. I'm really excited to see where this brings me in a couple of days, I currently have 9705 PPD on my cpu, not sure what that means, but all I know is I'm helping a good cause and that's all that really matters! Ok I'm done sleep rambling. Thanks for reading!

Hi axialLP7 and welcome!
Sounds like you're running but let us know what your cpu and gpu are and we'll help you tweak the setting for full output. Do you have a passkey yet?

Hola everyone.. Hope eveyone had a great Labor Day weekend..  Sadly I did not.  I got the dreaded SMART Short SELF Test failure Sunday.    Meaning my main HD is going to die sometime.  So I've not been folding at night since that failure accured.  Once I come across another HD I'll be back at it.

Just checkin in with you guys  and glad to see more members getting involved with the cause..
