oooo good deal on those Ripjaws, but those heat fins look like they could get in the way of my CPU cooler. Any idea how tall they are?

I have a set of the 1600's at my house. I can measure when I get home if you like. I'm tempted to return my 4GB of 1600 for the 8GB 1300 in this ad... what do you think? Same CAS9 rating on both.

They look about half the height of the dimm, shouldn't be too big.

As far as 1600 vs 1333, only a handful of applications take advantage of the faster RAM. If you do -bigadv folding it is recommended to use faster RAM. http://www.tomshardware.c...-i7-870-1156,2482.html

I'm currently using 2x2Gb A-Data 1333 and they work great. My only issue is that in a couple apps i've used all of it so I was thinking about upgrading to 8Gb by getting another pack of those A-Data, but i've always heard that fewer slots used is better. My A-Data have heat spreaders but they dont stick up like that. My problem is that the first slot will hit the 120mm fan that is pushing air out the back.

I know this is OT, and I"ll wrap this conversation up... From top of the heat spreader to bottom of the pins is 1 9/16". If you don't have all of your DIMM slots filled, I think you can still do matched pair in the other slots for dual channel. Check your mb specs though.
